  • 1. BCM for Outlook 2003 will not install
After I installed Office Professional 2003 I tried to install the BCM. It will not install properly and it causes errors in Outlook. I had Outlook 2003 with BCM previously installed on this computer and a file with Business Contacts. I had to reformat my hard drive and re-install everything and now I can't install BCM. Please help.
  • 2. Why can't I open an account in business contact manager?
I double click on an account and nothing happens. The circle goes then stops with nothing happening? Please Advise. Thank you.
  • 3. Create New Contact from Same Company in BCM?
I am a recent newcomer to Outlook 2007 and Business Contact Manager (BCM). While working with my "Contacts" I am able to create a new contact from the same company as one of my exisiting contacts. This is simply done by selecting the existing Contact, and then selecting "Actions", followed by "New contact from same company". I can't figure out how to do the same thing within BCM. Any suggestions?
  • 4. quick search function went away
I posted a message on outlook general and had no answer but found that it is something that only effected BCM all of a sudden. If you are in outlook list view and sort by a heading you can begin typing and it autoscrolls you down to the letters you are typing. i do not know what this is called but it works through outlook. recently in the past 3 days this feature has not been working on BCM in contacts, and accounts? does anyone know if this feature can be turned off. it happened to one user 2 days ago then. it still worked fine on my computer i went online today and since that i have lost this feature as well. Please any help as to where this went would be great it appears through the rest of outlook the feature still works it is only lost in BCM. any help you can provide would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

Upgrade 2003 BCM to 2007 BCM

Postby QmFydA » Fri, 29 May 2009 05:02:03 GMT

Could someone let me know "before" I buy the Office 2007 outlook / Business
Contact Manager. Will all the contacts (2000+) convert seamlessly over with
the data in the history comments and attachements.

Will it convert them from Office 2003 BCM/Outlook to Office 2007 BCM/Outlook
without needing fixes? I don't need or want to fix over 2000 contacts.

Any issues at all that you know of?

Make a backup copy of both bcm data and Outlook data files, which presumably
you do anyway.
I cannot comment on the bcm upgrade, but an outlook 2003 to 2007 upgrade
went seemlessly
(I didnt use bcm in 2003)

I do backup and I also Export as a .pst file to other pc's all with 2003. I
was mainly concerned with BCM and all the notes made on each contact name

Does anyone know if the 60 day trial verion with a new PC have the working
BCM in it? I have a new Laptop on the way with a 60 day trial

Only "issue" I know is that if you share your BCM database, office 2003
clients can not login to a BCM2007 database and office 2007 clients canb not
login to a BCM2003 database.

1.upgrading from Outlook/BCM 2003 to Outlook/BCM 2007

I recently upgraded my computer to Vista 32bit with a clean install. I
backed up all important to another system before the installation. I also
upgraded to Office 2007, including Outlook 2007. Then I installed Business
Contact Manager for Outlook 2007. Now I would like to restore the backed up
database from the previous version.

When I use the 'Manage Database' dialog and select 'Restore Database...", I
then pick the Browse button and navigate to the location of my backed up
database from the previous version. The name of my file is
'MSBusinessContactManager.msbcm'. It was not password protected. After
picking the 'OK' button, I get the message:

"This backup file was created in an earlier version 2.0.3606.0. It must be
migrated to the current version 3.0.5625.0."

I then pick 'OK' and it looks like the restore is working. However, it stops
and replys with this message:

"Cannot restore this database because you were not authorized to back up or
restore databases when this was originally backed up. For more information,
contact the database owner or the system administrator for more information.
Your local database was not changed."

Now I'm worried... I have a few years worth of contact information and
communication history. I would really like to restore this database. I
didn't password protect the original database file and I backed up
regularly. I never had a system failure, so I never needed to restore. I
would think this would be a reasonable method for upgrading from an older
version to Outlook/BCM2007. What other method should I have used?

BTW, after upgrading from Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista 32bit, I used the
same computer name, description, and am part of the same workgroup.

I don't want to go back to XP and reinstall Outlook/BCM 2003 to use my BCM
database.

How can I restore this older database with Outlook/BCM2007?

Thanks in advance for your help.

2.BCM-V2 (Outlook 2003 BCM SP3) TO BCM-V3 (Outlook 2007) Migration

I've got a two backups from my BCM-V2 SP3 installation :
A) Completed Export to BCM (From Outlook 2003)
B) Database Backup From MSSQL 2003 (Express Ed, or Whatever)

I Did a clean install (on Another WorkStation) of Office 2007, then install
Outlook BCM-V3 (Witch install MSSQL Express Ed 2005, and creates an empty
database)

I've follow two differents steps to try to make the migration :
A) Import BCM File (From my previous exported BCM (Outlook 2003)).
ERROR : Something like "Outlook can't make the last action", and nothing
append, another thing is that, I must kill outlook process to get rid of that
pop-up (Cancel and BACK buttons doesn't work)
B) Restore Database into MSSQL Express 2005:
It seams that this last step is the right one, but, when the process is in
the middle of the migration, it stops, and shows a pop-up with something like
"You're not allowed to restore database, plese contact the owner (my self) of
the database, before restore" (This is not the exactly msg, but the meaning
is the same)

My last chance, is to backup database, with password, and try to restore
again, and see what append. No other clue for me, any help ??

Thxs,

(Excuse my bad english))

3.Upgrade OL 2007 BCM to OL 2010 BCM Beta

I am in a real bind. I loaded Office Pro Plus 2010 (Beta) which installed
fine and running well. My problem is trying to load in BCM. I have
attempted at 8 times and nothing...I have sent frowns to support and to the
blog but I have not received a response.

The reason I am in a bind - as a condition of upgrade the OL BCM 2010
installation deletes 2007 BCM. I can't get 2010 installed and I don't know
that I can reinstall 2007 BCM which I don't really want to, because I am
anxious to work with 2010 because of all the new features. In fact I was
briefy with another CRM software, however, when I saw all the new features of
2010 I thought I would go back.

This has not been a pleasant experience because it appears the BCM Team is
responding to others but not my requests for assistance.

If you can suggest how I can get this issue resolved I would be greatly
appreciative. I do not have access to my data and it is hurting my
productivity.

Thanks for listening and I hope to God I can get someone to help!

Tim

4.(revised) INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

An Addendum - 10 minutes later)
I just went into the DATA FILE MANAGEMENT setting on OLK (outlook) and added
BCM. Like before - it installs it but there is NO TOOLBAR so I cannot
restore - move - or add contact to my old BCM contact database. (from a
previous version of outlook). SO - my problems are reduced to ADDING THE BCM
TOOLBAR to the top of my OUTLOOK 2003 window.
I have the OUTLOOK CONNECTOR showing but no BCM. thanx again - in advance -

5.INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

HI - whew - please help me get my OUTLOOK w/bcm to show my BC's again.

I excitedly have the fat 2 disk set of OFFICE SBM 2006. It works but for the
BCM (the second most important part after email). In increasingly desperate
attempts to get it to function correctly, I read and did most of what was
suggested here in this forum. I put in CD ONE to put in OUTLOOK, put in CD 2
to added BCM (and accounting) and after several attempts of install and
un-install and re-install I got it to work - BUT with NO TOOLBAR. sigh... 2
days full of frustrating hours I have NO BCM, NO TOOLBAR and NO MORE CLUES as
to what to do.

PULEEEEZE TEAM MS - help me get back to work here.
FEEDBACK CLUES: The registry (as in another post) says: REGDWORD (3) and
I've done ALL of the updates. BIG CLUE - I also re-installed WINXP (pro) and
noticed it added me (log in name) twice, once as DRIX (primary) and NOW I'm
DRIX.millhouse (my network) with my other programs still listed there but w/o
functionality to them. (sigh again...) PULEEEZE help me kidz - im losing
time - patience - AND the names/numbers to MY CLIENTS!!!!!!! (yikes!)
THANX - I'll be here waiting for your holy words of cure.
