I have a desktop that I want to be my base with my laptop synchronized to it. I know that I can link to the database on the desktop but I want it to leave a copy on my laptop without having to export and import. I currently us a Mirra database backup system that allows for synchronization. However, Outlook won't synchornize between computers. I don't have any problems with other programs including Microsoft Accounting program. If anyone has any help, please let me know.
  • 4. Can I use Outlook Rules to Create BCM History Items?
I have incoming order confirmation emails that I want to autolink with a business contact if his/her email is specified in the order confirmation email; i.e. I want to be able to see what my business contacts have ordered by viewing their contact history. As I understand it, I cannot do this via standard BCM autolinking because the email address of the person who ordered is in the message body, not the "from" field. I'm assuming that I should use Outlook rules to do this, but I cannot figure out how. There are apparently no BCM rule actions. Can I do this autolinking using Outlook rules? If not, how else can I do it? Thank you!

BCM Does not recognize duplicate contacts

Postby david.j.zimbrich » Wed, 04 Jun 2008 21:27:12 GMT

I've read the help files and even checked online, but I get thesame
answer: Outlook is supposed to check for a duplicate name or email
address when you save a contact, but I never get any notification
regarding a duplicate, when I have definitely got a duplicate contact
in BCM!

I have tried to uncheck the "Check for duplicates" in "Contact
options" and restarted Outlook, then recheck the box and restart
Outlook. But I cannot get Outlook to check for duplicate contacts.
Anyone else having this problem? I have many contacts in Outlook
contacts and also now in BCM after importing from ACT. I want to move
all business contacts to BCM and get rid of them from regulat Contacts
in Outlook, but I keep getting duplicates. Any help is appreciated!

I suspect that the Check for Duplicates options you refer to is for
items in the Outlook Contacts folder, and does not span the both
Outlook and BCM folders.

1.BCM contact open error "string was not recognized as a valid b

Sat,
I cannot open or even right click the disfunctional contact in BCM. The
contact happens to be me (?!) I do have a copy of the contact I had copied to
the regular contacts folder that works ok. The BCM copy used to work fine. I
did integrate BCM with Accounting 2008 and this is one of the few contacts
that would be affected. I suspect this is the problem.

I could just delete the BCM contact and copy in the regular contact, but I
am concerned that there may be a systematic problem that affects other
contacts or will recur. What do you recommend?

2.windows mobile phone not recognize business contact from bcm

I synchronize my Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2007 BCM between my computer and
mobile phone (Treo 700 WX). I have no Outlook contacts, only contacts in BCM
(that way I have a single SQL database with all information further
integrated with Microsoft Accounting Professional). When the phone rings, it
will not identify the caller. Is there a setting in windows mobile that will
allow the phone to recognize contacts from business contact manager that are
synchronized on the phone?

3.BCM contact open error "string was not recognized as a valid boole

Outlook 2007 BCM fails to open one specific contact with the error "string
was not recognized as a valid boolean." This contact has worked properly
before. Other contacts open fine, although I have not tried every contact.
Everything else appears normal. I ran the database defrag/error check and
received no complaints, but nothing was repaired. How do I repair this (and
possibly other) contacts?

4.BCM error "BCM cannot save this item because it does not recognize

When I open a contact and make any changes i get this error message
"Business contact manager cannot save this item because it does not recognize
some of the properites."

How do I fix this?

5.Why does BCM not detect duplicate contacts?

I have an Outlook list of contacts with categories say A and B. I select all
contact with category A and copy and paste them to Business contacts in BCM.
Then I select the contacts with category B and paste. Why does BCM not detect
that some on the B list already exist after I copied the A list? The contacts
with both categories A and B appear twice instead of once with both
categories assigned. Can anyone help?
