I just purchased a new Dell D610 Notebook and have been trying to load BCM for the last 8 hours. I initially had a "memory corrupt" error message so I reloaded .net and Outlook2003 and BCM and now the BCM application will not launch. When I do a Help About Outlook and go to System Info and Software it shows two identical BCM entries as Outlook ADD-INs. I have also tried running using msconfig with all optional services turned off. The problem does not seem to be due to a conflict. Any help would be much appreciated. . . -- lambda_com
  • 2. Can you Auto add-in email address-directly to BCM not Contacts
I would like to right click an email address to add an new business contact as you can do in Contacts. I know you can add as a contact, then click to move that new contact to the Business Contact folder; however, that closes down the contact and then you have to find it again and reopen in order to add more information, etc. I would like to do it directly, be able to save it and edit the information directly in Business Contacts from the beginning. Is there an add-on to let you do this? If not, there should be.
  • 3. GAK! Only one account associated with contact????!!
This cannot be, but it appears it is so. A contact can be associated with ONLY ONE account? If this isn't so, PLEASE help, because I have to associate courts with cases -- and how??? Surely lawyers aren't the only ones that want to associate more than one account with a contact!!!

I currently have the same situation. My associate is hosting the database on
her computer and can make changes, but I cannot. Can someone help us out?

Thanks,

Has she added any Outlook user properties to her Contact?

Luther,

She had not made any changes to that particular contact. All she did was
import all the contacts from an Excel list a day before. Then I received the
cell phone number for a client and typed it into the field - hit save and
close and it gave me the error. I went to her machine and we added the cell
phone number and it accepted it.

Thanks

2.BCM cannot save the item-it cannot recongnize some of the properti

I have Vista/Outlook 2007/BCM 2007 with Customizations + SBA integration.
When I try to create a record I receive "Business Contact Manager cannot save
the item because it can not recongnize some of it's properties."

Everything worked for a while just fine. But now I cannot create Accounts,
Business Contacts, Business Projects, Opportunities, or really any record at
all no matter how I attempt to do so. Copy from Contacts folder doesn't
work. Manually adding them doesn't work, etc..

After long trail and error (breaking the SBA/BCM integration, deleting all
customizations, backing up and restoring various bcm and bcmx files) I have
completely removed the database, uninstalled BCM 2007, Re-installed BCM 2007
and started from scratch. Once I re-installed I began to customize the forms
and after that created a few Accounts and several Business Contacts to test.
Everything worked. I ran SBA/BCM integration and all worked. I continued to
add Accounts and Business Contacts. Then I closed SBA or Outlook/BCM (I am
not sure which one was the cause) later to re-open Outlook/BCM I received the
error no matter what I try? I even speculated that the SBA/BCM integration
required both programs to be open at the same time in my desperation :-(

I believe that BCM customized forms are somehow affected (influenced) by
SBA/BCM integration. Is this true? Is it documented? And if so is there a
way to have both SBA and BCM with "customized forms"

3.BCM contact open error "string was not recognized as a valid b

Sat,
I cannot open or even right click the disfunctional contact in BCM. The
contact happens to be me (?!) I do have a copy of the contact I had copied to
the regular contacts folder that works ok. The BCM copy used to work fine. I
did integrate BCM with Accounting 2008 and this is one of the few contacts
that would be affected. I suspect this is the problem.

I could just delete the BCM contact and copy in the regular contact, but I
am concerned that there may be a systematic problem that affects other
contacts or will recur. What do you recommend?

4.BCM contact open error "string was not recognized as a valid boole

Outlook 2007 BCM fails to open one specific contact with the error "string
was not recognized as a valid boolean." This contact has worked properly
before. Other contacts open fine, although I have not tried every contact.
Everything else appears normal. I ran the database defrag/error check and
received no complaints, but nothing was repaired. How do I repair this (and
possibly other) contacts?

5.(revised) INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

An Addendum - 10 minutes later)
I just went into the DATA FILE MANAGEMENT setting on OLK (outlook) and added
BCM. Like before - it installs it but there is NO TOOLBAR so I cannot
restore - move - or add contact to my old BCM contact database. (from a
previous version of outlook). SO - my problems are reduced to ADDING THE BCM
TOOLBAR to the top of my OUTLOOK 2003 window.
I have the OUTLOOK CONNECTOR showing but no BCM. thanx again - in advance -
