I am having an issue with Business Contact Manager in Outlook 2003. I haven't been using it, but when I start up Outlook, there is a lengthy delay (30 seconds or so) and I get this error message: Microsoft Business Contact Manager There was a problem connecting to the database engine. To try again, please click Retry. If problem persists, check Help. When I 'Cancel' this message, I receive this error message: Business Contact Manager Business Contact Manager cannot load all of your data. Please try again later. Also, make sure you have permissions to access this data. If you're unsure, check with you systems administrator. If the problem persists, contact Support. To locate contact information, click Business Contact Manager Help on the Help menu, click Basics, and then click Contact Us. After clicking 'OK', I am able to run Outlook fine, but the BCM features will not work (I get the error messages again). Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you for your time and attention.

BCM DB shared on Small Business Server

Postby Enis » Sun, 15 Apr 2007 10:33:48 GMT

Hi,

Does anyone have the good document, or known KB, or even better the
experience of setting up a BCM DB on a Small Business Server so that
the clients using Outlook 2003 with the BCM client software installed
can all simultaneously access the BCM DB?

Cheers.

I was able to do it for Outlook 2007 with BCM using SQL 2005 on the SBS
server. I did not use th recently released DB tool which should do it all for
you. I did it following this instructions here:
 http://www.**--****.com/
It has worked quite well with multiple people accessing it simultaneously.
It should be much easier to do using the db tool.

Hey,

I have 3 databases on 3 different computer and i want to bring together
these databases on my small business server 2003.

Can you explain the method i have to follow to share this database accurately.

Best regards.

2.Connecting to BCM 2010 Shared DB on SBS 08 Server

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade the BCM from 2007 and have he following issue.
The tool works fine creates the DB, restores the 2007 data an upgrades the
schema.
The uisers have been given access.

However the SQL Express 2008 shows a region on US English and the clients
are UK(British) English. So the connect database is gryed out as the error
message indicates cannot connect to data with a different region.

I have tried changing the database language to British but the clients still
cannot connect to the server to use BCM 2010 data.

How can this be resolved as this did not happen with 2007. I am using teh
full release versions.

I understand that BCM is disabled when using Small

I currently have a peer-to-peer situation with 10
computers total and will be changing to a network with
one server and 8 workstations. We have no need for an
