I currently use Outlook 2003 and would like to obtain the BCM. Is there a way to do this without having to buy a new version of Microsoft Office?

Hi, I would appreciate help installing BCM on my vista pc running Office Ultimate 2007. I have gone through all the updates for office and vista. In addition, I have uninstalled and reinstalled office to no avail. It seems no matter what I try, nothing seems to work. I have a windows xp pc, and the installation was flawless. As I install BCM, I get an error that refers to a log file: MBSsetuptmp919. I have saved the log file in my documents if need for review. I also made sure that I have the SQL Server SP2.

Upgrade to BCM 2010 on SBS 2008

Postby lancorp » Sat, 05 Dec 2009 13:48:50 GMT

Got an odd issue here. We're updating the server hardware (new server)
and OS (was SBS 2003 and now is SBS 2008). We backed up the BCM 2007
database that was running on the SBS 03 server to a .sbb file.

Now, new server with SBS 08, installed SQL Express 2008 and created a
new instance, and ran the BCM Database tool for 2010 and created a new
database and shared it. Everything seems OK. EXCEPT, the fact that
none of the workstation see the database!

We installed Office 2010 Beta with BCM 2010. When we go to configure a
remote database, BCM 2010 cannot find one on the server machine!

To make matters worse, when configured as a local database, the backup
sbb file cannot be restore in BCM 2010 or BCM 2007. It says the file
format is not recognized.

We're in trouble here, on all fronts!

Any ideas why the workstations with Office/BCM 2010 cannot find a
database on the server machine? And why my backup of BCM 2007 says the
format is bad, even restoring to a 2007 BCM?

Thanks.

ps. I have the SBS 2008 Windows Firewall turned off, too, thinking it
was blocking the SQL requests...

2.Upgrade OL 2007 BCM to OL 2010 BCM Beta

I am in a real bind. I loaded Office Pro Plus 2010 (Beta) which installed
fine and running well. My problem is trying to load in BCM. I have
attempted at 8 times and nothing...I have sent frowns to support and to the
blog but I have not received a response.

The reason I am in a bind - as a condition of upgrade the OL BCM 2010
installation deletes 2007 BCM. I can't get 2010 installed and I don't know
that I can reinstall 2007 BCM which I don't really want to, because I am
anxious to work with 2010 because of all the new features. In fact I was
briefy with another CRM software, however, when I saw all the new features of
2010 I thought I would go back.

This has not been a pleasant experience because it appears the BCM Team is
responding to others but not my requests for assistance.

If you can suggest how I can get this issue resolved I would be greatly
appreciative. I do not have access to my data and it is hurting my
productivity.

Thanks for listening and I hope to God I can get someone to help!

4.Install BCM on SBS 2008 Standard server

I wish to install Outlook BCM onto a SBS 2008 Standard server.

I have done this before onto a SBS 2003 Server.

Can you still use the same tools or has there be an update for a 64 bit
operating system.

5.Connecting to BCM 2010 Shared DB on SBS 08 Server

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade the BCM from 2007 and have he following issue.
The tool works fine creates the DB, restores the 2007 data an upgrades the
schema.
The uisers have been given access.

However the SQL Express 2008 shows a region on US English and the clients
are UK(British) English. So the connect database is gryed out as the error
message indicates cannot connect to data with a different region.

I have tried changing the database language to British but the clients still
cannot connect to the server to use BCM 2010 data.

How can this be resolved as this did not happen with 2007. I am using teh
full release versions.
