At one point, months ago, I uninstalled the 32-bit version of Business
Contact Manager, along with the rest of the 32-bit Office 2010
software. I've now installed the 64-bit versions, but when I try to
install BCM 2010 x64, it says I have to uninstall the previous version
before installing this one. I can't find any entry in Programs and
Features where BCM exists, and the folder where it was installed
(c:\program files (x86)\Microsoft Small Business) doesn't exist.
I =presume= there's something in the Registry that still indicates BCM
x32 is still in there, but I didn't want to go {*filter*}ing around in the
Registry without at least some guidance.
The operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We attach Tasks to our Business Contacts to schedule follow-up activities. These tasks used to appear in the Outlook Tasks view but recently mysteriously disappeared. New tasks appear in Task view but older ones don't. We can still view these Tasks in schedule order using the Business Tools -> Reports, but that is less satisfactory. How can we resynchronize the Tasks view with Business Contacts tasks? How do we ensure that each person sees their assigned tasks? Is this documented anywhere? My supervisor has some very specific requirements for our contact database and I'm just beginning to learn Business Contact Manager and am wondering if it fits these requirements. And if it doesn't, does anyone have suggestions for a software that does? We need a contact database that we can assign a lead to a user, check on any activity or notes they put in regarding the lead, and can reassign the lead if the user isn't giving it any activity? So the user should only be able to access the specific leads we assign to them. I suppose it would be possible to just create different databases per user... but would it be possible to transer a contact from one database to the other, thereby reassigning it?

Check & deleted the registry the Business Solution eCRM key under HKLM > Software > Microsoft and HKCU > Software > Microsoft Also can you provided the entire error message ? -- Regards Rahul Thomas MSFT

Steve, Can you check this registry instead, since you once had the x86 build of BCM on your x64 Win7 (thus in WOW mode)? "HKLM > Software > Wow6432Node > Microsoft > Business Solutions eCRM", and the matching key under HKCU. Raul pointed the right direction. I am just double-checking this Wow node with you. If the "Business Solutions eCRM" key is found, try exporting it, deleting it and then run BCM Setup again. (Note: if you downloaded the .EXE, you can find the unpacked directory "BCMSetup.en-US" at either C:\Temp or %temp% and run setup.exe directly, so you don't need to unpack it every time) Come to think about it... Can you try hard-deleting the "BCMSetup.en- US" folder, and try unpacking the whole thing from the .EXE again? I just don't want the files expanded from your old x86 download pollute your x64 install, since there is a chance that they can be expanded into the same "BCMSetup.en-US" folder. Let me know which way works... :) John

3.Can't install Office 2010 beta x64 after uninstalling 2010 'RTM'
I had version 14.0.4734.1000 installed (employer is partner), but it expired. I uninstalled without any problem via the control panel, and even followed the office 2007 manual uninstall instructions afterwards (deleting the remaining registry keys, after checking that there were no msi packages left to unistall, which there weren't). The install of the beta goes without any problem, but initially every Office application would crash upon running. The problem module being 'mso.dll' which was left over from the RTM install and not deleted by the uninstaller. I deleted this dll and had the beta do a repair. Now the applications start, but the menu tabs are corrupted as well as all of the various ribbons and menu text. For instance, there are no 'File' menus, just a tab that says "Opening" which does nothing when clicking on it. I uninstalled the beta and reinstalled the expired RTM. The RTM works perfectly, but is expired. It would seem that the RTM install makes file modifications that are not reverted during uninstall, and these changes are not overwritten by the beta during its installation, thus creating a kludge of beta and RTM file versions. So, how can I cleanly remove the RTM as if it were never on my machine (including file versions/time stamps), and install the beta and have it function? Thank you.

I'm running a windows 7 system with MS Office 2010 and tried to install BCMv4-Beta-BCMSetup-x86-de-DE.exe Version: 4.0.9315.32 Verffentlichungsdatum: 17.11.2009 Sprache: Deutsch Installation won't work showing an error message: this version is incompatible.... 5.Error 1706 when trying to install beta version of 2010
I have downloaded Office 2010. When I try to install the .exe file, I go through the step of entering the product key. At the very end of the installation process, I get an error message: Error 1706 Setup cannot find required files. Any suggestions?
