Hello all, today I read prior posts (posted 06 & 07) about creating a hierarchy of contacts within BCM and don't believe what I want to do is possible, but you-never-know, as they say. We are a small manufacturer with national distributors. One of these distributors divides themselves into six regions and these regions are further divided into between four and six local offices. Each of these local offices have local sales reps, which report to local sales managers, which report to regional managers, which report to national managers. I would like to mirror their hierarchy in my marketing to them, but I don't belive BCM can handle it. I've been using BCM about 4 months and this is the first I've needed to dive this deep. Thanks in advance to any advise anyone can share. I'm looking at salesforce.com as an alternative, by the way.

when i add notes to the right on my contact cards, they show up on the screen but when I print out my contacts as cards 1/2 of the notes I make don't print because of space issues if there are too many. Is there a way to expand that area? I need to have all the notes print out to show all the calls, comments ect. to my boss. Any suggestions?

I have Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager. In the folders list, I
selected business contact manager, and clicked on "Close Business Contact
Manager".

Now I want to reopen it. HOW?????

HI

Go to File > Data File Managment > click on add and select Bcm data base
this should bring up the wizrad for BCM and select the option to use an
existing database

Raul,

Thanks so much for your reply. It worked perfectly!! Not sure why I
couldn't figure this out myself, but I was getting a bit frustrated, and not
thinking clearly, I guess.

Again, thanks!

Is this capability to "close" BCM, and not be able to reopen it in an
obvious way a bug in BCM/Outlook. Or just a design shortcoming?

I think it's an Outlook "feature". Outlook lets you attach and detach
different data stores.

Outlook should probably pop-up an "R U Sure?" on the close, given that
experiences like yours come up regularly in this newsgroup.

1.How do I reopen the Business Contact Manager?

I installed Business Contact Manager under Outlook 2003, then closed it from
the Folders List. Upon restarting Outlook, I can find no trace of BCM (no
Business Tools menu, no toolbar, etc.) and thus I cannot figure out how to
open it up again.

3.Add contact to Business Contacts in Business Contact Manager f

If the manual way of doing it that Monica describes does suit your needs,
there is a quick way to add a Business Contact from an e-mail. Especially if
you want to add many at a time, in a few clicks. The method is a little
obscure, but here is how:

1. In your inbox's list of incoming (or any other) mails, right click the
e-mail.
2. Then select "E-mail Auto-link".
3. A dialog box pops up with all of the addresses in the mail.
4. The ones that you currently do not have a Business Contact for have
"unknown" in the column.
5. Select the one(s) you want to make into Business Contacts and click OK
6. The Business Contact has been added, and will have its e-mail autolinked
as well (which can then be turned off again if you don't want it).
7. Now fill in the rest of the Business Contact information as appropriate,
as Full Name and e-mail address are already populated in the Business Contact.

Thanks for your interest in Business Contact Manager for Outlook.
