Trying to do a mail merge using Business Contact Manager contacts. Opened my document, "started mail merge", "selected recipients", chose "select from Outlook Contacts" and got this error message: "Unable to obtain list of tables from the data source". Outlook Help says "In the Select Contacts dialog box, select the Business Contact Manager folder you want to use." There is not BCM Folder! FYI, I've deleted my Outlook "Contacts" in order to use only Business Contact Manager contacts and not create confusion with two contact databases. Suggestions?
  • 2. Can't configure BCM 2007 "does not recognize some of the propertie
I upgraded Office 2003 to Office 2007. I had a fairly large customer database in the previous version of BCM. When I start Outlook (after upgrading), it takes me through the configuration again. It then terminates with an error as follows: Business Contact Manager cannot save this item because it does not recognize some of the properties. I have installed all of the Office service packs as well as the BCM for Outlook 2007 SP1. I have run Office diagnostics with no errors reported. I need access to my customer database
  • 3. restoring a BCM backup - Why is this so difficult
I have a problem with a BCM database. I want to check it on another machine with a fresh install. I have backed up the BCM database. Transfered it to the second machine and it won't let me open it telling me I am not the owner of the database! I have the file password protected why has Microsoft deemed it necessary to make this more difficult by default. Not everyone who uses BCM has a depth of technical expertise. Making a backup is simple. Password protecting it is child's play - needing a degree to restore it is not amusing. Is there a simple way of allowing me to restore the backup to the second machine that doesn't require a steep learning curve or reading pages of technical jargon or to install programmes that I have no need of apart from to get this thing tested which should only tae 5 minutes to complete???? Thanks, Nigel

SBA 2007 integration with Outlook 2003 & BCM SP4 fails

Postby TGVsYW5kSG9vdmVy » Mon, 12 Mar 2007 12:39:00 GMT

Integrating SBA 2007 Pro with Outlook 2003 & BCM SP4 fails.
Everything is on one XP laptop with the latest service packs and updates.
Outlook 2003 with BCM 3 worked ok. It never integrated successfully with SBA
2007, a known problem. I installed BCM SP4 and my BCM data vanished. I
restored the database and BCM SP4 appears to work ok. I shared the database
in Outlook as per the instructions. I started SBA 2007 and tred to integrate
with BCM. SBA 2007 does not see any database, so integration fails.
I understood SP4 was supposed to enable integration of Outlook 2003 BCM with
Small Business Accounting 2007. What did I do wrong?

SBA 2007 cannot integrate with BCM versions earlier than BCM 2007.
BCM SP4 can integrate with SBA 2007.

The difference is which application does the integration.

In BCM SP4, go to menu BCM|Accounting, and integrate from there.

Please, I achieved the sync between SBA and BCM 2007.
Nevertheless, I made a mistake and delete one of my acconts into BCM. So
that this account has been stamped 'inactive' in SBA. I recreated the
Account in BCM, but now there is no way for me to recreate this account into
SBA nor to make the former account 'active' again in SBA.

Any idea

Try the SBA forum, they should understand what SBA's in/active means
best.

2.BCM (Beta), OL & SBA Integration

I'm not sure which ng to post this to but here goes. I have read here that
BCM is vastly improved in the beta and I would like to use it to replace
ACT. BCM V2 integrated better than V1 to OL & SBA but still had a long way
to go.

I have 3 questions that I hope someone can help with:

1. Where can I read more about the BCM Beta before I download it?
2. For people that have already downloaded BCM Beta, do all the functions
work or are there still problems?
3. How has the integration between BCM, OL & SBA been improved in the Beta?

Thanks a lot.

4.Outlook with BCM SP4 Failing to Install

I have 3 PCs (all HP4400) and I like to keep all my software upto date on all
of them.
My PC (PCMain) was running the BCM databases and sharing this database with
the other 2 PCs (PC2and PC3)
Lsst night I upgraded all three PCs with the Outlook with BCM SP4 (one
reason is that I may upgrade all PCs to Vista very soon).
The Upgrade worked perfectly on PC2 and PC3 but failed on my pc (PCMAIN) and
now I can longer share the database with the other PCs.
I have checked the install on PC2 and PC3 (looking for the existance of
Bcmfirewall.exe) and these files are on PC2 and PC3 so I know the updates
worked OK on these but this file is not on my (PCMAIN) PC.

The error I am getting from the install log is as follows.
