I have drop down lists created in both my Accounts and Business Contacts in BCM. For some reason the drop down lists in my user defined fields in Business Contact Manager do not appear in the individual records. I can see the lists if I go to Customize Forms and Edit form the main Business Contact Manager tool bar. So, I really did create them. Any ideas? -- Looking for the good in everything...although it''s hard to find in some of this software crazyness.

I have 07 Office Standard - and would love to test the BCM in Outlook. Unfortunately I bought the one that does not come with it. I've downloaded the Small Business Trial, installed it - but Outlook is still my Standard version. Is there a way to test BCM on my computer with my own settings without having to uninstall the Standard version? Also, would I be able to purchase the BCM standalone and have it run with Standard Office or will I have to purchase the Outlook 07/BCM software again? Thanks!

BCM Account cannot see BCM Contacts

Postby Johnhod » Fri, 07 Aug 2009 12:49:58 GMT

i have successfully set up a bunch of Accounts over the past few days.
I had some existing contacts and added a bunch of new ones. From th
Account record I successfully linked a contact, all from the new ones
had created.

Today I can create a new contact and create a new account. when I g
to link the contact from the account screen the select box is no longe
populated with any of the new contacts I have created and only sees th
few that were previously there. I can go to contacts and see, selec
and open any contact record. I can open an existing Account and click o
an previously linked contact and that contact will be found.

I have
- run office diagnostics and one issue was fixed
- run MS SCANPST and SCANOST
- deleted my old outlook profile and created a new one (costly, los
all my categories and all my contacts out of my address book hav
vanished.)

A different but perhaps related issue is that while my address boo
contacts have vanished from outlook they still exist on my iphone
However when I synch my iphone through itunes Outlook does not ge
updated with the many contacts on my iphone.

I run Vista SP1 and Outlook/Office 2007 on a Lenovo X61 Tablet with
Gigs of RAM. I am currently up to date on MS Updates.

Any help appreciated

An account can be linked / associated to only once contact at a given point
of time, I guess that the reason why you aren't seeing it

1.BCM Accounts and Business Contacts in BCM

I just got the and new to using Outlook w/ BCM recently. I would like to
find out how to effectively use the BCM. On the left side of Outlook BCM
there is Contacts. Under Contacts there is My Contact. Then there is BCM.
Within BCM there is Accounts in BCM and also Business Contacts in BCM.
I am in Real Estate and would like to find out how to set up my client
contact info. I have individual clients and I also have groups of client
contact, ie: clients from a group of states.

Any advise on setting up and using the BCM in the Accounts in BCM and also
Business Contacts in BCM.

Thanks,

2.Creating BCM.Account & BCM.Contact items in Technical Refresh

I'm experiencing problems with an add-in I'm developing after installing the
Technical Refresh.

Previously when I created a BCM.Account or a BCM.Contact object, all the BCM
specific item properties existed, now none of them are so things are going
pear shaped in my application.

I can create these properties after I create the object but why are they no
longer created by default when the object is created. Seem a little bizare
that this used to work but now it dosn't, I can't believe that this is an
'feature enhancement'.

3.(revised) INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

An Addendum - 10 minutes later)
I just went into the DATA FILE MANAGEMENT setting on OLK (outlook) and added
BCM. Like before - it installs it but there is NO TOOLBAR so I cannot
restore - move - or add contact to my old BCM contact database. (from a
previous version of outlook). SO - my problems are reduced to ADDING THE BCM
TOOLBAR to the top of my OUTLOOK 2003 window.
I have the OUTLOOK CONNECTOR showing but no BCM. thanx again - in advance -

4.INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

HI - whew - please help me get my OUTLOOK w/bcm to show my BC's again.

I excitedly have the fat 2 disk set of OFFICE SBM 2006. It works but for the
BCM (the second most important part after email). In increasingly desperate
attempts to get it to function correctly, I read and did most of what was
suggested here in this forum. I put in CD ONE to put in OUTLOOK, put in CD 2
to added BCM (and accounting) and after several attempts of install and
un-install and re-install I got it to work - BUT with NO TOOLBAR. sigh... 2
days full of frustrating hours I have NO BCM, NO TOOLBAR and NO MORE CLUES as
to what to do.

PULEEEEZE TEAM MS - help me get back to work here.
FEEDBACK CLUES: The registry (as in another post) says: REGDWORD (3) and
I've done ALL of the updates. BIG CLUE - I also re-installed WINXP (pro) and
noticed it added me (log in name) twice, once as DRIX (primary) and NOW I'm
DRIX.millhouse (my network) with my other programs still listed there but w/o
functionality to them. (sigh again...) PULEEEZE help me kidz - im losing
time - patience - AND the names/numbers to MY CLIENTS!!!!!!! (yikes!)
THANX - I'll be here waiting for your holy words of cure.

5.BCM, cannot see accounts/contacts

In BCM, when I create an opportunity, or an account, and try to add an
account or contact, the list appears to be blank.

In truth the list is scrollable and selecable, but the font/color of
the list is such that I cannot see the information.

For example I can scroll down the list and highlight items, but I
cannot read what Iam highlighting and need to "guess" if I've
highlihgted the proper contact (account).

I have reset my desktop setting to default, but is there a setting that
is changeable to change the color of the font when that list is
displayed... All my outlook lists are readable, only the lists in BCM
appear to be in the same font color as the background when trying to
add an account or contact to an opportunity, or a contact to an
account. Its the pop-up list when u click on the add icon within BCM.
