When you send an email in Word, and click on the To icon, it brings up your Outlook address book. It alwasy defaults to the Contacts address book, but I would like it to default to the BCM Contacts address book; any way do choose the default Outlook Adress Book? Also, in the option to select an address book, Contacts shows up twice. One is legitimate with info, the other is completely empty. How do I get rid of the empty one? There are not two Contact "adress books" in outlook, only the valid one. Thanks! Bob

It makes it hard to see what accounts have been "worked" on a particular day. Any suggestions? Thanks, Russell

BCM and Outlook problem ( BCM fails to start)

Postby d3Rkcm0 » Wed, 08 Jul 2009 01:35:01 GMT

Here is the scenario. After starting outlook, I click on BCM and the
drop-down comes up, I select accounts and Outlook unloads. I can click on BCM
then on the dropdown I select BCM home. That does come up but the default
goes to sales. Then I click on home and a message appears that says "Business
Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or actions.
Please try again" I click on OK and the action is completed. Then I can click
on accounts. The same message as above appears and when i click O.K. the
accounts are there.
after working in "accounts" if I click on anything else "mail, calendar or
notes" Outlook unloads again..
Here is what I have tried.
I have gone to the services and made sure all of the SQL services were
started. Some were in manual and I changed them to automatic.
I the looked at the event log and I show an error. The source is
"MSSQLServerADHelper ". Under description it says " "0" is an invalid number
of start up parameters. This service takes two start up parameters."

I am using XP and using outlook 2007 with sp2 with BCM version 3.00.8619.01
I have searched numerous sites that have got me this far, but I am stuck. Do
I have to uninstall BCM and reinstall.

I just had this problem as well. in the outlook menu, click on tools and
then trust center and then add ins. it will probably show BCM under
disabled. below that will have manage - choose disabled devises and then
highlight the BCM and click enabled. You may also have to locate the BCM
system file (it is shown) and add your computer as an administrator if you
get this file can only be changed by an administrator. Hope this helps.

1.(revised) INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

An Addendum - 10 minutes later)
I just went into the DATA FILE MANAGEMENT setting on OLK (outlook) and added
BCM. Like before - it installs it but there is NO TOOLBAR so I cannot
restore - move - or add contact to my old BCM contact database. (from a
previous version of outlook). SO - my problems are reduced to ADDING THE BCM
TOOLBAR to the top of my OUTLOOK 2003 window.
I have the OUTLOOK CONNECTOR showing but no BCM. thanx again - in advance -

2.INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

HI - whew - please help me get my OUTLOOK w/bcm to show my BC's again.

I excitedly have the fat 2 disk set of OFFICE SBM 2006. It works but for the
BCM (the second most important part after email). In increasingly desperate
attempts to get it to function correctly, I read and did most of what was
suggested here in this forum. I put in CD ONE to put in OUTLOOK, put in CD 2
to added BCM (and accounting) and after several attempts of install and
un-install and re-install I got it to work - BUT with NO TOOLBAR. sigh... 2
days full of frustrating hours I have NO BCM, NO TOOLBAR and NO MORE CLUES as
to what to do.

PULEEEEZE TEAM MS - help me get back to work here.
FEEDBACK CLUES: The registry (as in another post) says: REGDWORD (3) and
I've done ALL of the updates. BIG CLUE - I also re-installed WINXP (pro) and
noticed it added me (log in name) twice, once as DRIX (primary) and NOW I'm
DRIX.millhouse (my network) with my other programs still listed there but w/o
functionality to them. (sigh again...) PULEEEZE help me kidz - im losing
time - patience - AND the names/numbers to MY CLIENTS!!!!!!! (yikes!)
THANX - I'll be here waiting for your holy words of cure.

3.Help restoring BCM from failed BCM 2003

I desperately trying to move my BCM 2003 from my old laptop to a new laptop.
The BCM on the old laptop no longer has the BUSINESS TOOLS link on the menu.
I tried copying the MDF files over to the BCM folder in the APPS DATA folder
in the user profile folder but it says that the MDF is of a newer version. I
have applied all the patches, including the SBA patch.

There may be a work around! I also noticed that I have a new instance of SQL
on the called SQL EXPRESS. When I setup my profile, I can connect to the new
instance called [MACHINENAME]\SQLEXPRESS, and actually link to the new
version of the MDF. However, when I restart or open the PROFILE, it wants to
view the previous MDF/profile. Is there a registry entry or a setting
somewhere that I can tell BCM to look for the new instance and use the proper
MDF? In this way, I won't have to every battle exporting the database from
my old laptop, whose BCM is kindly broken.

I would really appreciate the help.... Mui mui mui thanks in advance.

4.BCM appears in Control Panel however no icons exist to start BCM

..also when I go to Start>All Programs the only choice I have under BCM are
to run help or to take a tour (the tour does not work).
When I go to Outlook everything behaves and looks no different after BCM
installed.

I cannot figure out how to start or run the program

5.BCM-V2 (Outlook 2003 BCM SP3) TO BCM-V3 (Outlook 2007) Migration

I've got a two backups from my BCM-V2 SP3 installation :
A) Completed Export to BCM (From Outlook 2003)
B) Database Backup From MSSQL 2003 (Express Ed, or Whatever)

I Did a clean install (on Another WorkStation) of Office 2007, then install
Outlook BCM-V3 (Witch install MSSQL Express Ed 2005, and creates an empty
database)

I've follow two differents steps to try to make the migration :
A) Import BCM File (From my previous exported BCM (Outlook 2003)).
ERROR : Something like "Outlook can't make the last action", and nothing
append, another thing is that, I must kill outlook process to get rid of that
pop-up (Cancel and BACK buttons doesn't work)
B) Restore Database into MSSQL Express 2005:
It seams that this last step is the right one, but, when the process is in
the middle of the migration, it stops, and shows a pop-up with something like
"You're not allowed to restore database, plese contact the owner (my self) of
the database, before restore" (This is not the exactly msg, but the meaning
is the same)

My last chance, is to backup database, with password, and try to restore
again, and see what append. No other clue for me, any help ??

Thxs,

(Excuse my bad english))
