I was under the impression that once you LINKED a contact to an account, any changes made to either the contact of the account would be updated in the other. I've imported a few hundred contacts and due to mapping issues, the addresses are screwed up and I'm finding myself having to make the corrections in BOTH the contacts and accounts... TWICE THE TYPING, HALF THE FUN!

Is there a way to turn off the prompt that asks you if you want to create the " name of person birthday" event in your personal calendar? I sure hope so! -- Sammy
  • 3. BCM Error Message - Cannot access the database.
In the last three days when I've tried to use Outlook I get this error message: Business Contact Manager for Outlook database cannot be loaded. This action cannot be completed because Business Contact Manager cannot access the database. The database is currently stopped. Do you want to change the database configuration? I haven't changed anything as far as I know...what do I do? Thanks! ACN
  • 4. BCM Toolbar and BCM does not open
We have Outlook 2007 on a small network with a shared database. Everything has been fine until recently when on some PC's BCM seems to not open the BCM toolbar is empty and the BCM options are not available. I can go the the data file from account settings and the shared data file is listed. I can create a new database on the local machine from here but the BCM options are still not available. This has happened on other PC's but they seem to be connected OK for now. Do you have any suggestions to try and resolve this problem.

Outlook 2007 with BCM - BCM query?

Postby RGF2aWRhdExpdmVycG9vbA » Tue, 17 Nov 2009 19:42:01 GMT

In the BCM am trying to change the opportunities current view. I have added
my own fields successfully but when I add one of the default fields
"contacts" it allows me the add this to the view but nothing shows in the
field? This happens with several default fields? Why?

2.BCM-V2 (Outlook 2003 BCM SP3) TO BCM-V3 (Outlook 2007) Migration

I've got a two backups from my BCM-V2 SP3 installation :
A) Completed Export to BCM (From Outlook 2003)
B) Database Backup From MSSQL 2003 (Express Ed, or Whatever)

I Did a clean install (on Another WorkStation) of Office 2007, then install
Outlook BCM-V3 (Witch install MSSQL Express Ed 2005, and creates an empty
database)

I've follow two differents steps to try to make the migration :
A) Import BCM File (From my previous exported BCM (Outlook 2003)).
ERROR : Something like "Outlook can't make the last action", and nothing
append, another thing is that, I must kill outlook process to get rid of that
pop-up (Cancel and BACK buttons doesn't work)
B) Restore Database into MSSQL Express 2005:
It seams that this last step is the right one, but, when the process is in
the middle of the migration, it stops, and shows a pop-up with something like
"You're not allowed to restore database, plese contact the owner (my self) of
the database, before restore" (This is not the exactly msg, but the meaning
is the same)

My last chance, is to backup database, with password, and try to restore
again, and see what append. No other clue for me, any help ??

Thxs,

(Excuse my bad english))

3.(revised) INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

An Addendum - 10 minutes later)
I just went into the DATA FILE MANAGEMENT setting on OLK (outlook) and added
BCM. Like before - it installs it but there is NO TOOLBAR so I cannot
restore - move - or add contact to my old BCM contact database. (from a
previous version of outlook). SO - my problems are reduced to ADDING THE BCM
TOOLBAR to the top of my OUTLOOK 2003 window.
I have the OUTLOOK CONNECTOR showing but no BCM. thanx again - in advance -

4.INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

HI - whew - please help me get my OUTLOOK w/bcm to show my BC's again.

I excitedly have the fat 2 disk set of OFFICE SBM 2006. It works but for the
BCM (the second most important part after email). In increasingly desperate
attempts to get it to function correctly, I read and did most of what was
suggested here in this forum. I put in CD ONE to put in OUTLOOK, put in CD 2
to added BCM (and accounting) and after several attempts of install and
un-install and re-install I got it to work - BUT with NO TOOLBAR. sigh... 2
days full of frustrating hours I have NO BCM, NO TOOLBAR and NO MORE CLUES as
to what to do.

PULEEEEZE TEAM MS - help me get back to work here.
FEEDBACK CLUES: The registry (as in another post) says: REGDWORD (3) and
I've done ALL of the updates. BIG CLUE - I also re-installed WINXP (pro) and
noticed it added me (log in name) twice, once as DRIX (primary) and NOW I'm
DRIX.millhouse (my network) with my other programs still listed there but w/o
functionality to them. (sigh again...) PULEEEZE help me kidz - im losing
time - patience - AND the names/numbers to MY CLIENTS!!!!!!! (yikes!)
THANX - I'll be here waiting for your holy words of cure.

5.upgrading from Outlook/BCM 2003 to Outlook/BCM 2007

I recently upgraded my computer to Vista 32bit with a clean install. I
backed up all important to another system before the installation. I also
upgraded to Office 2007, including Outlook 2007. Then I installed Business
Contact Manager for Outlook 2007. Now I would like to restore the backed up
database from the previous version.

When I use the 'Manage Database' dialog and select 'Restore Database...", I
then pick the Browse button and navigate to the location of my backed up
database from the previous version. The name of my file is
'MSBusinessContactManager.msbcm'. It was not password protected. After
picking the 'OK' button, I get the message:

"This backup file was created in an earlier version 2.0.3606.0. It must be
migrated to the current version 3.0.5625.0."

I then pick 'OK' and it looks like the restore is working. However, it stops
and replys with this message:

"Cannot restore this database because you were not authorized to back up or
restore databases when this was originally backed up. For more information,
contact the database owner or the system administrator for more information.
Your local database was not changed."

Now I'm worried... I have a few years worth of contact information and
communication history. I would really like to restore this database. I
didn't password protect the original database file and I backed up
regularly. I never had a system failure, so I never needed to restore. I
would think this would be a reasonable method for upgrading from an older
version to Outlook/BCM2007. What other method should I have used?

BTW, after upgrading from Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista 32bit, I used the
same computer name, description, and am part of the same workgroup.

I don't want to go back to XP and reinstall Outlook/BCM 2003 to use my BCM
database.

How can I restore this older database with Outlook/BCM2007?

Thanks in advance for your help.
