  • 3. Mail Merge (Directory) using Outlook Contacts as source
I am very comfortable in doing a mail merge using various sources, but have never used Outlook Contacts. When I choose "Select from Outlook Contacts" and then "Choose Contact Folder" I can only access the contact folder in my personal folders rather than the main contact folder in Outlook. Any thoughts? • 4. Contact Lists / 2003-SP1
Hi Folks: This has me puzzled If have Office 2003 Pro Edition - I have it on my laptop and desktop OS on both machines in XP-Pro (both are current with patches/fixes) On the laptop, the contacts are sorted by name - perfectly - one long list - OK On the desktop, they are sorted into 2 areas - 1 and 2 - then by name ??? I can deal with that, but more strange, there are some contacts that I can "find", but that don't appear in either area Any thoughts ?? Thanks Steve
  • 5. Free/Busy Details - OL Version Specific?
Hi Folks, Long time lurker here and sometimes poster in m.p.e.a . . . Free/busy has never been my strong suit and this morning I got a question about it I really should be able to answer. When viewing f/b info, sometimes people's meeting details popup in responce to the mouse hovering and some other folks' details don't. When the info does popup, it will either give the details of the meeting or "Private Appointment", which is fine and I get that (although it would be nice to flip the default setting and make appointments Private). What I don't get is when the details don't popup. Is this a function of the Outlook version publishing the f/b info or the Outlook client reading the info? Or is the info somehow corrupt? Many thanks - Brad

Have you checked with your ISP to see if there are any issues?

1.OE6 suddenly rejects my password

All of a sudden when I try to access my email, I'm getting a box that says to
enter my user name and password when they're already entered in the box.
When I click OK, or try to re-enter my password, the box just keeps
reappearing. I'm also receiving error message 0x800ccc90 (rejected
password). This is for a POP 3 account which is one of two email accounts I
receive at the same mailbox. I'm receiving email from the other account just
fine. I've read the article Microsoft referred me to but still don't get
what I need to do.

2.Exchange suddenly rejects all outlook express login attempts

As of today, Exchange Server 2003 suddenly started rejecting all attempts to
check email via the internet with Outlook Express. I haven't touched the
server in weeks. I'm very sure I didn't click a "stop letting people check
their email" checkbox anywhere.

It gives a "password invalid" error for everyone.

Any ideas?

3.Word suddenly rejects all COM add-ins I create

I've been working on an add-in for MS Word. It started as an extensibility
"shared add-in" project in VisualStudio.NET 2003, so it's managed code,
VisualBasic.NET.

Recently, I added some new code that was throwing exceptions, so I went to
the task manager and killed the Word process in which my DLL was running.

After this, Word (Office Professional 2003) would no longer load that
add-in. Furthermore, if I create a new extensibility project in Visual
Studio, with just a message box in the OnConnection subroutine of the Connect
class, saying "On Connection reached", and build, Visual Studio seems to
create all the right registry entries (I change load behavior to 8, load on
demand in regedit), but the DLL won't load.

In both cases, the DLL will display in a list of COM add-ins for an instance
of Word. When I try to load the DLL through the Word interface, the add-in
load behavior entry in the registry is changed from 8 to 9 (indicating
"connected," as I understand it), but the code in the OnConnection class does
not execute. Furthermore, if I re-open the COM Add-in dialog, the DLL is not
shown as loaded (though, as mentioned earlier, the registry LoadBehavior
value has, at this point, been set to 9).

I tried a new project, same "extensibility" profile, with load-on-start-up
behavior. It failed to load, similarly to the add-ins described above.

Having run reinstall/repair on Visual Studio, Word, Visual Studio Tools for
Office, just to be sure nothing fundamental had gotten broken, I am mystified.

This reminds me a little of how Macros and wlls fail silently to "load on
demand" with high security settings, and I'm wondering if there is a security
issue. Word security is medium and "trust all installed add-ins" and "trust
access to your visual basic project" are checked.

I'm mystified, and haven't been able to find anything in the MSDN knowledge
base or literature.

Can anyone shed some light?

Thank you.

- Christine

5.Outlook password rejected

I have one user who's Outlook 2002 password is being rejected by the
Exchange 2000. I know the event that caused this problem, but I'm not sure
how to fix it. Here's where the problem started. I allowed this person to
check one of his employees email via OWA. He was logged into his XP machine
as himself. When he put in this other users name and password in to OWA he
checked the box to "remember password", it connected fine and he was able to
view the employees email, but now when he try's to open his Outlook, it
prompts for a password. It rejects the valid password. If I connect to OWA
from a different PC as the user that's having problem, it opens with no
problem. So I know the password is valid. I tried clearing out passwords
in IE, but that did not help. It's as though this client PC has stored this
password, but I'm not sure where or how to clear it. Tried changing both
users passwords, but that didn't work either. Thanks in advance for your
time.

Matt
