Use the mail applet in the control panel to configure an Outlook profile. The bare minimum needed to get Outlook started is a personal folders (pst) file.
thank you neo. i *think* i got the profile done. now it will not open because "cannot open default e-mail folders. the information store could not be opened." how do i start a personal folder? and what is an information store? thank you very much! momko
Information store = the thing that stores email, contacts, calendar, .etc items. This could either be your Exchange mailbox or a personal folders file. Mail applet is where you do everything. Best bet would be to start the mail applet, then select show profiles button. From there you can add a new profile and then delete whatever is existing.
You create one right in that same Mail applet, using the Data Files button. -- Brian Tillman
first, thank you both for helping me. i fiddled around in the mail setup, made some changes, and here is the new error message. "Cannot start Microsoft office outlook. Cannot open the outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. " hmm... i must be really messing up somewhere. i am now completely stumped. what to do now? thank you, momkoz
i fiddled around some more, and can now open outlook. yay! i will post the next question in a new thread. thank you again! momkoz

2.Cannot start outlook. Your profile is not configured
Hi: We have an Exchange 5.5SP4 Win2kSP4 server and new Win2k Exchange 2000 SP3(and Post SP3) Server with ADC between them. We successfully tranferred all email boxes to exchange 2000 except 3 that give MAPI errors. This afternoon I booted WIN2K Exch5.5 server which was out old PDC and Frist WIn2k Domain controller. After that no one can access email on Exchange 2000 server that I have booted 3 times. Every one gets error Cannot Start Microsoft outlook. Your Profile is not configured. (/o=abcd/ou=CA/cn=configuration/cn=servers/cn=fs001. Please help. It had been very difficult. I have looked at every article on Microsoft Web site. Thanks Jamal 909-489-5557
