  • 1. Attachment Content at risk of being altered
Why is it that you can open a message, and then open an attachment to that message, edit the contents of that attachment and finally save the modified message and attachment back to a mail folder? You would hope that when you look at a past email message it is an accurate record of what was received in your inbox, including its attachments. But if someone (with malice or mischief in mind) is able to modify the content of an attachment, then that hope goes out the window. I have observed this in a simple Outlook 2003 pop3 client. Is this an issue that Exchange resolves? Andyh
  • 2. copy custom task with custom fields
I have created a custom "task folder" with custom column fields. However, when I try to copy this to the public folders (Outlook 2k3, Exchange Small Biz 2k3), I lose all formatting I have set up. Is there a way to copy this folder and formatting so it is available to all users? Without creating it locally on each users machine? Thanks.
  • 3. how to add image url to html email?
In Outlook express, I can insert an remote-linked image using a url (like a smiley) into an html-format email by clicking the "insert picture" icon and entering the url into the "picture source" textbox. How do I do that in Outlook 2003?

Old mail account data file won't delete

Postby Sean Brown » Fri, 20 Aug 2004 04:43:20 GMT

A while back I had set up a new mail account (IMAP-
based), and with that Outlook created a new data filed
named by the mail server I connected to. When I no
longer used that mail account, I deleted it through Tools
| E-mail Accounts | Remove.

However, the data file still shows up in the "All Mail
Folders" pane, and I'd like to remove it. But, if I
click on the entry, I get an error message that
says, "The set of folders could not be opened." If I
right-click on it and choose "Close [datafilename]", I
get this error message: "The message interface has
returned an unknown error. If the problem persists,
restart Outlook." No amount of restarting Outlook or
rebooting my computer can make it go away.

How can I remove it? Do I need to remove some entry from
the registry?

3.how do I delete new unread emails from old deleted email account

Having created a couple of new Outlook 2003 email accounts I decided to
remove them in favour of webmail accounts. However by Windows XP account
login keeps telling me I have a number of unread emails in these email
accounts that I thought I had deleted. How do I get rid of these unread
messages and the annoying reminder adjacent to my Windows account login icon
? Recreating the email accounts doesn't resolve.

4.Left over files from old e-mail accounts

                                                                  Hi Everyone,
I have reason to believe that there are left over files from , deleted
old e-mail accounts that I have previously removed from Outlook Express 6, on
my WinXP Pro SP3 computer.
How can I tell which Outlook Express folders are left overs and not
current? I'm asking because a lot of Outlook Express folders, and Identity's
are numbered and not named.
   Thanks.

5.Does deleting e-mail account delete the account from my comput

When I opened Outlook it kept logging on to my ISP (or trying to-my ISP
wouldn't recognize my password when sent from Outlook, Outlook Express
connects just fine) so I kept getting "Unable to Connect" messages every few
minutes.
Since I first wrote I've been able to keep Outlook from trying to connect
by disabling the Send/Receive function. I'd still like to know if I delete my
e-mail account from the Outlook "E-mail Accounts" box, will my accounts be
deleted altogther from my computer?
