I have a quick question about configuring outlook to automatically create a user profile based on the login name. I have seen it done using the custom installation wizard but what i really want to do is when a new user logs onto a machine he can click on outlook and straight away the profile is created. I know it can be done because some of our machines have been configured in that way but could someome please tell me how to do it. Thanks in advance Paul
  • 2. Different "from" address
I have setup several oop3 accounts in Outlook 2003. I always want the same e-mail address to display in the "From" section of the sent e-mail. I have configured each account to display this same e-mail address in the From section (which also happens to be a POP3 account). Problem: I notice that while the email I am sending does contain "Please Reply To:" and uses the correct e-mail address it ALSO displays the e-mail account that the message was actually sent from. Ex: XXXX@XXXXX.COM "Please respond to: XXXX@XXXXX.COM " XXXX@XXXXX.COM is the actual account I sent the email from. XXXX@XXXXX.COM is the account I want displayed on the message. Is there any way I can strip out the actual e-mail account the message was sent from?

Anyone heard of (and know how to fix) a problem where upon starting OL2000 all items in the Inbox have an "unread" icon, despite the unread count in bottom left corner being correct, and the bold/unbold of the message subject for being unread/read being correct?

Are you using a 3rd party personal firewall program? The reason that I ask is that you might have to allow outbound communications. I'm wondering if I should factor this program into deciding whether or not I should buy the MDA if it will not be continued in the future. Does anyone out there use this program? Support for it seems to be minimal. Thanks for your help. I'll also post this to the Outlook.Contacts forum - thnx

sending attachment .mdb files by Access

Postby Jack Hume » Tue, 06 Jan 2004 10:49:40 GMT

Error message: Outlook blocked access to the following
potentially unsafe attachment: *.mdb where * is the name
of file. I get this message when I try to send a db I am
working on to a colleague. The email shows the paperclip
icon in my sent box but no attachment is there. I note
that Outlook help says that .mdb are level 1 security
items and cannot be opened. Is there a work around for
this?

3.Within ACCESS, Send a .mdb file with linked table as email Attachm

Any code suggestions on how to send a small .mdb database containing a linked
table as an email attachment from within an access application. I know that
I can send the linked table as an excel spreadsheet, but I would really like
to send the linked table's mdb file. To clarify: I'm running an access
application (app1). There is a linked table from another small access
database (data1) containing limited info. I would like from within the
access application (app1) to generate an email with the database (data1)
containing the linked table as the attachment to the email. The operator
does not need to be able to edit this in their email editor. This can
preferrably go directly to a preset email recipient, and then notify the
sender that it was sent and or stick it in their "sent box". I am not a
good coder at all.. thats why I work in Access.. But I can hack some
cookie-cutter code together if shown some samples and direction. Biting off
a bit more than I can chew and need some help. Thank you.

4.Within ACCESS, Send a .mdb file with linked table as email Att

I could create the file as a dbf. or other database type if needed. Or rename
it as .txt, send it, then rename it again back to mdb once received if it is
possible to make send any other file type from within access. ... why would
Outlook block the mdb file type?

5.Cannot import send/receive dates for emails stored in Access (.mdb) file

I have some mdb (Access format) database files with thousands of emails
extracted from couple of Yahoo groups forums. I'd like to import these
into my Outlook 2003 PST so that I can search and read them offline.

The mdb files contain all the fields necessary for a proper email
import, including

from_name
from_email
subject
receive_date
receive_time
message (HTML format)

When I use the Outlook "Import and Export Wizard", selecting Access
file type, etc., all appears fine. However, after the import
completes, in Outlook there is no date information populated under
either sent or received date.

If I use the "map custom fields" button on the import wizard, all of
the import file fields are shown correctly on the left hand "from" side
(as listed above) but on the right hand "to" side I only see the
following Outlook fields to map to:

subject
body
from/to/cc/bcc (name)
from/to/cc/bcc (address)
from/to/cc/bcc (type)
billing information
categories
importance
mileage
sensitivity

For whatever reason, THERE IS NO DATE FIELD to map to.

I can map date to something like "billing information" but that doesn't
help much

I appreciate any help or advice you can provide!

Thanks,

John
