Synch Business Contact Manager data between 2 pc's

Postby Robin Strahan » Wed, 26 May 2004 20:26:45 GMT

I'm looking at buying Office 2003 and making use of the business contact
manager (BCM) feature. I'd like to be able to synchronise BCM data between
my desktop and laptop, so that when I go on the road my laptop has all the
lastest data and when I return, update the desktop with any new additions to
the data on the laptop.

Does anyone know a way of doing this?

Thanks
Robin

Hi Robin,

As far as the information that i have on Synchronizing BCM. The users
would have to backup and restore the database across the machines, this
would overwrite all your exisiting database information.

 http://www.**--****.com/
So how do multiple users synchronize? Manually?

A: If the users are on the same machine, there is no effort or action
required. If the users are on multiple machines, the only option would be
to backup and restore the database across the machines, but keep in mind
that doing this will overwrite all your existing database information.

Thank You,
Raghu...

I have 2 PC's with Office 2003 Pro.

I want to install the Office 2007 Beta on one of the PC's, at least
the MS Outlook 2007 module, and I want to install THAT with the
Business Contact Manager 2007.

Will I be able to safely copy my data, i.e. my .PST files back & forth
over the coming months between the PC running Outlook 2003 WITHOUT BCM
and the one running Outlook 2007 WITH Business Contact Manager?

I mean is there any incompatibility between the data files used by
Office 2007 and Office 2003?

I know that the Business Contact Manager stores its data in MSDE (SQL
Server), but is that separate from the Contacts, Emails, Calendar Data
in Outlook?

3.How to make the Contacts on a Pocket PC Phone default to Business Contacts Manager contacts

I am running MS Outlook 2007 with Business Contacts Manager. I also have
a Pocket PC phone which I sync with Outlook.

Currently, my personal contacts in Outlook are synced to the default
contacts in the phone. If I want to look at the BCM contacts in the
phone, I have to go to Start -> Business Contacts.

I would like to have the contacts from Business Contacts Manager be the
default contacts in the phone, so when I go to dial a contact, the list
of contacts are those from BCM, not my personal contacts.

Anyone know how to do this?
