  • 1. Exchange + POP3 or HTTP send doesn't work
I have Outlook 2003 set up to an Exchange server for work e-mail. I am trying to set up second account in OL for personal e-mail, either POP3 or HTTP. When I add the second account, I cannot send e-mail through either account. I can receive mail fine, but messages I send just go to my Outbox and stay there forever. I have tried everything I can think of in the send/receive settings, but nothing works. I have set up separate groups for each account and one group for both accounts. I have the "send immediately when connected" option checked. I am not working offline. As soon as I delete the second account, my Exchange account works fine again. Any help with this would be appreciated.
  • 2. Cannot send email to large distribution groups.
We have a small business. Recently upgraded to Windows XP and to Outlook as email tool. Imported old Outlook Express address book to Outlook Contacts. All seemed to work fine, except... Now we cannot send emails to large (+900) Distribution Groups that we could do with Outlook Express. Are there some maximums or settings I am missing? Thanks for help.

I have 2 PC's with Office 2003 Pro.

I want to install the Office 2007 Beta on one of the PC's, at least
the MS Outlook 2007 module, and I want to install THAT with the
Business Contact Manager 2007.

Will I be able to safely copy my data, i.e. my .PST files back & forth
over the coming months between the PC running Outlook 2003 WITHOUT BCM
and the one running Outlook 2007 WITH Business Contact Manager?

I mean is there any incompatibility between the data files used by
Office 2007 and Office 2003?

I know that the Business Contact Manager stores its data in MSDE (SQL
Server), but is that separate from the Contacts, Emails, Calendar Data
in Outlook?

I would not recommend it if the data is important - better is to install it
in a virtual machine until you are sure it won't corrupt your data.

Well I realize there is a risk because it is "beta" software, but how
can I test it / use it, if I don't go and get mail, send mail, etc.
etc.

I think multiple snapshot backups of

C:\Documents and Settings\JJ\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

C:\Documents and Settings\JJ\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst

C:\Documents and Settings\JJ\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ XXXX@XXXXX.COM John
Jackson-00000010.pst

is probably a good idea in case Outlook 2007 crashes the .pst file(s),
but my question was, in theory, the file structure has not changed ???
and assuming no corruption due to a bug, Outlook 2003 can still read a
.pst file that has been updated by daily use with Outlook 2007??

Yes, Outlook 2003 should be able to use a PST previously used in Outlook
2007.

I'm looking at buying Office 2003 and making use of the business contact

Does anyone know a way of doing this?

4.How to make the Contacts on a Pocket PC Phone default to Business Contacts Manager contacts

I am running MS Outlook 2007 with Business Contacts Manager. I also have
a Pocket PC phone which I sync with Outlook.

Currently, my personal contacts in Outlook are synced to the default
contacts in the phone. If I want to look at the BCM contacts in the
phone, I have to go to Start -> Business Contacts.

I would like to have the contacts from Business Contacts Manager be the
default contacts in the phone, so when I go to dial a contact, the list
of contacts are those from BCM, not my personal contacts.

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks.
