  • 1. Outlook Shortcut Bar Prompt
Greetings, To re-enable this prompt (As what SP was asking), you navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Options\NewFolder and turn NoShortcutPrompt from value of 1 to value of 0. Close Outlook, reopen, create a new folder and you will be prompted to add to Shortcut Bar. That was a couple of days worth of effort! Peace
  • 2. Urgent help required with understanding Outlook 2002 data transfer
Dear all, first of all apologies if my post has appeared to more than one newsgroups... as I am now getting desperate for comments I need to 'push' this out as far as possible. I need to understand the following: All my clients are win2k with Outlook 2002. My Exchange server is 2k. A user sends a mailshot with 100 emails each email 50kb attachments. Can someone explain what will be communicated to and from the Exchange server? I need to pinpoint the data transfer so that I understand how much bandwidth to allocate to the clients. (if someone is aware of a MS white paper even better). I just need to formally explain why (and how often) Outlook will decide to send (or receive) 10 MB to/from the Exchange box. Many thanks in advance, Johnny
  • 3. Outlook Mapi Spooler Problem
This morning my Boss sent a reply to an old email, using Outlook 97. This corrupted incoming and outgoing mail. I took a look at what was happening and after researching the problem felt it was best to upgrade to 2000, which we had. Now the incoming and outgoing work except for one message, the original problem message. It can't be moved or deleted and the following error is attached to it. After researching and trying many things from google and Microsoft, I am just not sure what I should attempt next, anyone with any ideas? Maybe a way to stop the MAPI spooler Which I can't seem to find. The MAPI spooler has already begun sending this message Error 0x80040114 --
  • 4. delete impossible in Outlook
I'm afraid I'll have to delete my Deleted Items folder in Outlook 2000. When I try to empty the folder I get a "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists Restart Outlook" message. Is it possible to delete the entire folder and replace it with an empty new one? Will it create any problems? My Outlook version: "Microsoft Outlook 2000 SR-1 (9.0.0.4527) Internet Mail Only - Security Update" Running scanpst.exe doesn't really help: I am still asked to run the Inbox Repair Tool whenever I try to delete things. Is it possible to delete my Outlook 2000, reinstall and then from backup copy my previous inbox, sent items, etc folder by folder into the fresh outlook.pst? Losing the Deleted Items folder this way wouldn't be a worry to me. Kind regards Henrik

need help with using Free/Busy on the Web

Postby BCS » Sat, 17 Jan 2004 07:18:44 GMT

I want to post my Calendar to our company's website, so I'm using the
Free/Busy feature in Outlook 2000. I successfully posted my vfb file to
www.mydomain.com/freebusy (bogus site). I then went to another user's PC and
pulled up my Contact and went into Details and entered my Free/Busy address
as http://www.**--****.com/
Meeting Request and invite myself, an error came back saying it couldn't
connect to the URL.

Now, I would rather use FTP instead of HTTP for all this, but I had trouble
there too. I pulled up MS KB article 291621 and made sure I was doing
everything correctly, but either I'm skipping a step, or this is an access
issue with my ISP, or maybe an issue with Outlook 2000. Can someone offer
some help?

Thanks,

Barry

1.Need Help - Free/Busy

I can not get Free/busy service to work and I believe I
have done everything correctly. Hopefully somebody will
point me in the correct direction.

We are running Windows XP, with Office XP SP2, connecting
to an Exchange 2k server. Clients are behind 2
firewalls. We do not have a web server or which to
implement one at this stage.

We are wanting to share free/busy information with
external people.

I have set up a passport for the users, using there smpt
address for Exchange.

I have ticked publish and serach free/busy in Outlook as
well as running the /clear free busy switch when opening
Outlook.

I get an error message when I run Free/busy "An error
occured while using the Microsoft Internet free/busy
service. An error occured while using the Microsoft
Internet free/busy service. The cause of the error could
not be determined."

Any help is greatly appreciated.

2.Free/Busy data, help needed

Our company is on the verge of implementing Outlook as our calendaring and
scheduling tool. The free/busy data does not work as I expect it would for
invite requests. Ideally, all attendees invited would show as tentative on
the free/busy views until they actually viewed their meeting request in their
mailbox. What I'm finding is only the attendees that have the Outlook client
running are getting updated as tentative (or if they act on the meeting
request then a status of accept/decline/etc shows up). The problem this
poses, is that if someone is out of the office on vacation and their Outlook
client isn't running, their requested meeting times are NOT blocked as
tentative for free/busy searches. Some of our executives are traveling a lot
and when they are on the floor, they are booked into meetings. The
knowledgebase help I've found so far reinforces my findings.
Is there a way to have everyone's meeting requests processed as tentative
automatically for free/busy search purposes until they can act on the meeting
request in their inbox whether they are running the client or not?
We are also using an auto accept agent running as a service on our exchange
server for resources. It will accept meeting requests automatically for
resources such as conference rooms and AV equipment. Our resources are setup
using a CAL. Anyone know of an equivalent agent that would process meeting
requests in all users mailboxes as 'tentative' automatically? This would keep
the Free Busy map updated at all times.

Thanks

Publish 2 months free/busy information on the Server. Update free/busy

I don't know why this is here. I have never shared my calendar except with
my pda. Thanks for looking into this.

5.Need help configurig outlook 2003 client for use wiht exchange server using outlook web access

Hello,

Here is my problem. I am trying to configure Outlook 2003 to access an
exchange server. The IT person gave me the following information.

server: https://email.domain.com/exchange
user name: XXXX\xxxxx

I entered these two as given to me in the exchange server settings.
However when i try to connect or check names I get an error message
saying outlook could not log on.

I also am not asked for my password or given a place to enter the
password.

Before you tell me that it can not be done, I have used the server and
user name above to connect and access the exchange server wiht
Microsoft Entourage 2004 on my Macintosh. So it can be done but so far
not wiht Outlook 2003.

I assume I have missed something. I even checked the 'more settings"
and could not see anything obvious.

If you can shed some light on how to properly configure Outlook 203, I
would appreciate it.
