I am trying to set up Outlook so that I don't have to go to my Contacts folder, select a contact, then select Action-new message to contact in order to send an e-mail. My address book is not connected to my Contacts folder, and gives me the following error message: The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been removed or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For informations on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Help.

Script to automatically add the personal contacts into a outlook 2003 profile

Postby Fallback » Sat, 28 Aug 2004 18:23:22 GMT

Hello,

I have a problem regarding the "greyed out" option of
showing a users personal contacts when choosing recepients
for an email.

I know that it's possible to add a users personal contacts
to the list where the global adress book is displayed by
manually adding it in the control panel -> mail ->
additional adress books

However, because we're going to roll out Outlook 2003 on
around 500 Clients, we need this to be scripted.

Does anybody have a script that automatically adds the
users personal contacts (Control Panel -> Mail -> Email
Accounts -> Add a new adress book -> Additional Adress
Books -> Outlook Adress Book)

and also automatically flags the option "Show this folder
as an e-mail adress book" in the Contacts Properties in
Outlook 2003?

I know, it's a bit hard to describe but I'd be thankful
for any hints on how to achieve this.

Have you looked at the Office Resource Kit for Office 2003? I believe that
they have a CIW that gives you this option.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

Thanks for the quick reply. We did use the Resource Kit
and the CIW, however the only option resembling what I'm
looking for is the option "Migration Options: Convert
Personal Adress Book (PAB) to Office Adress Book"

I need that option, but using the OAB (Outlook Adress
Book) instead of the Personal Adress Book. (Because our
users contacts are stored in the Outlook Adress Book)

Does an option like that exist in the Resource Kit?
Because we sure didn't find it yet.

As Milly said, you can include the Outlook Address Book among the components
included in the profile distributed with the installation, using the CIW.

2.Outlook 2003 - add Profile Name & Exchange Server automatically

I am running XP amd Office 2003. I am trying to get Outlook to add the
User login name as Profile Name and a specific Exchange Server name
automatically when the user logs into their account for the first
time.

I have created a PRF and have the registry edits to add the Username a
Profile Name and a specific name for the server. The problem is I
can't find a way to run the .reg file automatically. I can double
click on it for each user, but thats not going to cut it. Also, when
the .reg it ran it prompts with a "Pre" regedit msgbox and and "Post"
regedit msgbox. I need to eliminate those too!!

1. Run the prf/reg file once on initial login for anyuser that logs
onto the machine
2. Eliminate msgbox(s)

Thanks for the help,

4.ADDING SENDERS E-MAIL ADDRESS TO MY PERSONAL CONTACTS BOOK AUTOMATICALLY

Hi folks

Sorry if this seems a bit basic, but I cannot find an
answer to the problem.

I want Outlook (using XP Pro version) to add people's
addresses who send me e-mail directly into my personal
address book.

Try if I might but can I find a way of doing it - NO!!

I am pretty sure I was able to do this some years back,
possibly Win 98 era.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks in advance
