  • 2. shared contacts list
I need to establish ONE master contacts list that is the default for all user accounts and which appears under CONTACTS. The current method by default in Outlook is for each user to have a CONTACTS tab which is PERSONAL. This is no good as it creates multiple and disparate data sets within the company. Please advise how the MASTER CONTACTS data that I have created and set up in Public Folders can be made to default as each users CONTACT list without them having to make multiple clicks to get to a public folder/all folders/ etc etc. Once we have the ONE data set, we can then look to have on line syncs. Can't believe this is a ONE OFF requirement, surely this methodology is preferable. Also is there anyway of doing a alpha search of the CONTACTS list when viewing by Company - ie I selct to view contacts in company sequence but then have to scroll through all the company's to get to the one required???

I want to quickly and easily e-mail contact information for people in my contact list to others without sending the entire contact information for that person. For example, I have my client's home and business contact information in my contact file. I want to send my client's business (but not home) contact information to somebody else I am referring them to. How do I do this efficiently? Wouldn't the vCard include all the contact info including home and business? Thanks, Michael

Export to Excel, then to Visio (Org Charts)

Postby TGFtaWNoYWVs » Thu, 29 Jun 2006 10:26:01 GMT

I am trying to export my database to into Visio so I can automatically create
org charts. I am having a problem with the names.

If I have a contact named John Smith, Outlook exports the name as SmithJohn
in the name field. That is what Visio keys off of (manager name) to figure
out how to organize the org charts. I am trying to figure out how to export
the name normally. I have changed the file as setting and it does not do

If I go in the file and manually change the name to John Smith, the org
charts work perfectly.

Anyone have any ideas?
Below is an excerpt from my file.

Name FirstName1 LastName1 JobTitle ManagersName1
WhitacreEd Ed	Whitacre President & CEO
CicconiJames James Cicconi VP Ed
StephensonRandall	Randall	Stephenson	COO Ed Whitacre

It might be as simple as changing the field mapping for the export.
