  • 1. How do you change the default phone number format in OL contacts?
I just changed to a new computer at work. Now, every time I enter a phone number into the contacts, it changes the format to (xxx) xxx-xxxx. This is not how I normally store my phone numbers. Nerd that I am, I am curious as to why, regardless of how I enter the phone number, it changes the format to the above. Any ideas?
  • 2. distribution lists won't update
Running Exchange 2003. This issue happens in both Outlook 2000 and 2003. We have several distribution lists setup in a public folder. This lists will no longer update. We've made several changes to individual contacts in the folder. When we get into each distribution list and hit the "update now" button nothing changes. Members of the list with known changes maintain their old data even though their entries in the public folder have been changed. When this distribution list is used, email is sent to the old addresses. How do I correct this problem?
  • 3. Import Distribution Lists
Hi, How would I import a distribution list to another computer? I have it on my ocmputer and I saved it as an .rtf file. I wen to the other computer to try to import but I do not see that option. I saw a "share" inside the distribution lists but if that means they would host it that will not work because i need everyone to have access at all times, independent of a certain user being logged on. Thank You, Matt
  • 4. How did the contact list change to all the same person?
I have a rather large list of contacts within outlook, all with listed company names and contact names. Somehow, all of the company listings got changed to "John & Dianne Henry"...any thoughts on how this happened or how to change it? Thanks!
  • 5. Prevent surrogate from reading a private message?
Is there a way to send a confidential/private message to an individual and restrict to them only (i.e., so their designated surrogate won't get the message)? I have occasion to communiate with the boss (I'm employee relations) and he wants me to send him e-mails about misconduct of his surrogate, i.e., advising him what to do. Obviously, the surrogate shouldn't get these messages. I have searched and searched through Outlook help, and so far, have not seen where this is possible? Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, what did you do?

How can I set the Outlook "Contacts" button on the Navigation Pane to direct
me to my Business Contact Manager contacts, instead of the standard Outlook
contacts

Aren't the BCM contacts listed in the navigation pane? You can add the
folder if not, but afaik, you can't make the BCM contacts default for that
folder. You can set them as default in the address book.

1.BCM related Options in Navigation Pane are gone

I am missing the bcm related options e.g. [By Active] [By Follow-up Flag]
etc. These where normally available under current view for business contacts,
opportunities, project tasks etc.

Is there any way to restore these options?

After my Outlook 2007 crashed I had to start it wit the parameter /cleanviews.
Then the BCM View Options disappeared.

Thanks for any help.

2.Contacts button in Navigation Pane opens last Contacts folder acce

If I view another user's Contacts folder then switch to Mail or Calendar and
back to Contacts, the contact list displayed is that of the last list I
accessed (the other user's) not my contact list. Is there a way to cause the
button to always open my Contacts folder?

3.(revised) INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

An Addendum - 10 minutes later)
I just went into the DATA FILE MANAGEMENT setting on OLK (outlook) and added
BCM. Like before - it installs it but there is NO TOOLBAR so I cannot
restore - move - or add contact to my old BCM contact database. (from a
previous version of outlook). SO - my problems are reduced to ADDING THE BCM
TOOLBAR to the top of my OUTLOOK 2003 window.
I have the OUTLOOK CONNECTOR showing but no BCM. thanx again - in advance -

4.INSTALL BCM - uninstall BCM - install BCM - still no BCM

HI - whew - please help me get my OUTLOOK w/bcm to show my BC's again.

I excitedly have the fat 2 disk set of OFFICE SBM 2006. It works but for the
BCM (the second most important part after email). In increasingly desperate
attempts to get it to function correctly, I read and did most of what was
suggested here in this forum. I put in CD ONE to put in OUTLOOK, put in CD 2
to added BCM (and accounting) and after several attempts of install and
un-install and re-install I got it to work - BUT with NO TOOLBAR. sigh... 2
days full of frustrating hours I have NO BCM, NO TOOLBAR and NO MORE CLUES as
to what to do.

PULEEEEZE TEAM MS - help me get back to work here.
FEEDBACK CLUES: The registry (as in another post) says: REGDWORD (3) and
I've done ALL of the updates. BIG CLUE - I also re-installed WINXP (pro) and
noticed it added me (log in name) twice, once as DRIX (primary) and NOW I'm
DRIX.millhouse (my network) with my other programs still listed there but w/o
functionality to them. (sigh again...) PULEEEZE help me kidz - im losing
time - patience - AND the names/numbers to MY CLIENTS!!!!!!! (yikes!)
THANX - I'll be here waiting for your holy words of cure.

5.BCM-V2 (Outlook 2003 BCM SP3) TO BCM-V3 (Outlook 2007) Migration

I've got a two backups from my BCM-V2 SP3 installation :
A) Completed Export to BCM (From Outlook 2003)
B) Database Backup From MSSQL 2003 (Express Ed, or Whatever)

I Did a clean install (on Another WorkStation) of Office 2007, then install
Outlook BCM-V3 (Witch install MSSQL Express Ed 2005, and creates an empty
database)

I've follow two differents steps to try to make the migration :
A) Import BCM File (From my previous exported BCM (Outlook 2003)).
ERROR : Something like "Outlook can't make the last action", and nothing
append, another thing is that, I must kill outlook process to get rid of that
pop-up (Cancel and BACK buttons doesn't work)
B) Restore Database into MSSQL Express 2005:
It seams that this last step is the right one, but, when the process is in
the middle of the migration, it stops, and shows a pop-up with something like
"You're not allowed to restore database, plese contact the owner (my self) of
the database, before restore" (This is not the exactly msg, but the meaning
is the same)

My last chance, is to backup database, with password, and try to restore
again, and see what append. No other clue for me, any help ??

Thxs,

(Excuse my bad english))
