Local Contact folder synchronized with Public Contact folder

Postby RGF2aWQgUw » Sat, 31 Mar 2007 06:18:01 GMT

Hello all!

We are running Exchange/Outlook 2003 sp2 (SBS) and hope to find a solution
to simplify the viewing and use of a Public Contacts folder that we are
using. What we would like to do is create a sub folder in Outlook under
Contacts that links to our Public Contacts folder. Is it possible to do this
without copying the contents of the Public folder into the local Outlook
profile? Our main goal is to make accessing the Public Contacts folder as
easy as possible and eliminate multiple copies of the Public folder. (Our
CEO gets confused when he updates an address in one list and then accesses
another copy of the list and finds the old contact information. Go figure!)

Please let me know if you need additional information. Thanks in advance
for your help.

Outlook has no such "linking" feature. See http://www.**--****.com/ #exssync

1.Contact in public folder defaults to local contact folder

This is a recurring situation on 2 contact records we have in (different)
public folders. When we try to save a document (eg email with attachment) to
the contact record in the Public Folder, the system won't allow you to, and
asks if you want to save to the default folder instead. The default contact
record has set itself up in the user's personal contacts folder. We have
tried copying the default record back to the Public folder & deleting it in
personal contacts, but it appears again.

Can anyone explain what causes this?

2.Synch public folder contacts with local contacts Outlook 2003

I have a public folder that contains about 6000+ contacts for my company. I
need to be able to have this synchronize with my local contacts in Outlook
2003 during a send/receive. I think I use to set this up but I can't remember
how (or even if) I did it.

Changes will only be made to the public folder contacts, and then drop down
to the local contacts in my Outlook.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is there a way to synchronize my contacts in "Contacts in Personal Folder"

Reason: When I make a new contact in the "Contacts in Personal Folder" I am
able to pull up the contact through the "Select Names" window under the
Contacts dropdown, but am not able to synchronize with my Palm device.
When I make a new contact in the "Contact" folder, I cannot pull up the
