  • 1. User-defined email addresses
Hi there, I have a problem with the email options on the contact sheet information. It gives you the ability to input 3 different email addresses, which is great. But i have some companies with 6 email contacts and have been asked to put those also on the contact page. I have got to all fields - email - and then added a user defined field, i have added say an E-mail 4 field and filled it in, also an E-mail4 Dispaly As and filled it in, also an Email4 Address Type and filled that in with STMP. I have then gone to view - Current View and Customize Current View - into fields and user defined and selected my email 4. This is great i can now see the 4th email details, although i am not able to set any properties to this item. MY PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I AM CREATING A DISTRIBUTION LIST, IT WILL LIST THE 3 EMAILS ON THE CONTACT AND THE FAX NUMBER, BUT I DO NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO GET THE USER DEFINED EMAIL INTO MY DISTRIBUTION LIST. I HOPE THIS IS POSSIBLE, PLEASE HELP. I AWAIT YOUR REPLY
  • 2. Contact Options not Available
Hello All, I have a user with Outlook 2003, when she goes into Contacts>Properties>Outlook Address Book tab and tries to Show this folder as an email Address Book it is greyed out/unavailable. She is an administrator on the local machine (XP Pro) and I have several other users same XP Pro/Office 2003 setup that DON'T have this issue. Any ideas? TIA!!!
  • 3. Sharing Contacts and Calendar
I have 3 computers all running Outlook 2k. The machines are linked through a hub, and are NOT using Exchange Server. I need to make one Contact list and one Calendar avaiable for viewing and changing on all computers. How would I manage this?
  • 4. Is there a good ways to send email to all members of a category?
You can easily search and find all members of a category. One you have "found" them you cannot seem to send them either a bulk mail to all members or individual emails to each member of the category. It seems this would be very helpful (and thus, hopefully supported somehow). Has it been done with Macros - at which I am no expert? If you used this properly you could almost eliminate the need for distribution lists.
  • 5. Searching through Distribution Lists
Hello all, I have a question regarding distribution lists. Hopefully I am posting in the correct newsgroup. I have created a Contacts public folder. In that folder I have created contacts with external email addresses. In that folder I have also created distribution lists that are made up of contacts in that folder. I have run into a situation when deleting a contact. If I delete a contact, the information (email address) remains in the distribution list until I go into the DL and click Update Now. We have many DL's in that folder and it isn't really feasible for us to manually click Update Now on all of the DL's. Also is there a way to search through the DL's for a contact? When I search the Contacts folder fr a user I only get the contact and not which DL's that user is a member of. Thanks.

1.Cannot import send/receive dates for emails stored in Access (.mdb) file

I have some mdb (Access format) database files with thousands of emails
extracted from couple of Yahoo groups forums. I'd like to import these
into my Outlook 2003 PST so that I can search and read them offline.

The mdb files contain all the fields necessary for a proper email
import, including

from_name
from_email
subject
receive_date
receive_time
message (HTML format)

When I use the Outlook "Import and Export Wizard", selecting Access
file type, etc., all appears fine. However, after the import
completes, in Outlook there is no date information populated under
either sent or received date.

If I use the "map custom fields" button on the import wizard, all of
the import file fields are shown correctly on the left hand "from" side
(as listed above) but on the right hand "to" side I only see the
following Outlook fields to map to:

subject
body
from/to/cc/bcc (name)
from/to/cc/bcc (address)
from/to/cc/bcc (type)
billing information
categories
importance
mileage
sensitivity

For whatever reason, THERE IS NO DATE FIELD to map to.

I can map date to something like "billing information" but that doesn't
help much

I appreciate any help or advice you can provide!

Thanks,

John

4.Allowing receiving of Access MDB file

I am creating an application that the main operator will press a button in a
Access program, and it will query certain info., package it in new table,
e-mail it to a user, he will update the data, send it back, and then the data
will be updated into the main table. Although I've haven't worked out all
the details yet, a big stumbling block is how Outlook 2003 will receive the
data, as it currently doesn't, unless the mdb file is renamed to *.doc or
something. (Outlook 2003 will not receive access files - unless someone knows
away to disable that limitation). But if I do that, it wouldn't be easy for
the user to open Access automatically. Any one send and receive data back
and have to do anything like this? Your insight would be a blessing.

Thanks in advance.......
