Live update sends Office 2007 updates, even though not installed

Postby LiveTwoHike » Wed, 28 Oct 2009 00:25:20 GMT

I promptly uninstalled (via Programs and Features) the trial version
of Office 2007 on my brand new HP PC.

But, Live Update keeps sending me Office 2007 updates.

As I recall, the uninstall completed very quickly, so I am not sure
what it actually did.

How can I stop 2007 updates?

[OK, we'll bottom-post and continue the pointless crosspost to OE General
only because you started it]

Is *any* version of MS Office installed right now (e.g., Office 2003)?

Is PowerPoint Viewer, Word Viewer, and/or Excel Viewer installed?

Is Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack or Microsoft Office Compatibility
Pack Service Pack (SP1) listed in Add/Remove Programs?

If your answer is YES to ANY of the above three questions, you need to
install the updates offered.

Hi,

I just set up a fresh install of my Office 2007 copy. This time I skipped
things like Outlook or InfoPatch etc.

When switching computer off I saw 19 updates installing... When I opened the
update history it turned out that there were updates for all Office programs
applied (incl. Publisher, Access, Outlook etc.), not only those actually
installed!

Anyone can explain this strange thing to me? What's the point to install
patches for apps not actually present on the system?
