I have created the rule and used a button "run the rule now" to verify if it works. It worked to the point that in the outlook sent folder I found the e-mail I planned to forward. My neighbor caused a power outage that shut down my computer unexpectedly while I was running Outlook. When I rebooted, it wouldn't open fully. I followed the instructions for repairing damaged .pst files and repairing MS Office, but no success. I hadn't backed up the program before the power outage because I have no CD burner. I backed up the .pst archive and mailbox before the repair, but I fear these files are damaged also. Help! Any ideas? I'm using Outlook 2000.

Text disappears upon pasting

Postby SGFtbWFyMjAwNw » Wed, 13 Aug 2008 23:37:01 GMT

Ever since we switched to Office 2007, I've had the following problem with
Outlook:

When pasting into an email -- sometimes a new one, sometimes from Drafts --
the text I'm pasting not only doesn't show up, but ALL the text in the
recipient email disappears. Then there is a long lag -- one to two minutes,
I'd estimate -- before the copy shows up and the rest of the original copy
returns.

This happens when copying from other emails or from websites. (I'm not sure
about documents.) The COMPLETELY bizarre thing is that sometimes the copy in
the SOURCE email also disappears and only returns when the pasted copy shows
up.

As you can imagine, at first I tried clicking frantically around both
emails, trying to get my copy back (aaarg!), but I couldn't tell if that sped
things up or not.

Isn't this weird? It's stumped IT, who are really very good.

Any and all input gratefully received,

This could hold a relation to your (false) bug report. Clearly something if
wrong with your current configuration.
Have you tested things already in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run-> outlook.exe /safe

Which addins do you have installed?

If behavior doesn't change, post EXACT steps to reproduce, including the
websites you tried to copy/paste from.

Thanks, Roady, but that wasn't my bug report; I was responding to it.

Does your advice still apply?

Sorry, I mixed up the names indeed :-S

I would indeed still start in Outlook Safe Mode. There are some addins that
do something to your clipboard. This way you can rule that out.

i, Roady. Sorry for the delay in replying. I do appreciate your assistance.

So, after trying to get to safe mode to run, I started testing various
combinations to tell you about so you could try reproducing them. (I don't
think I have any add-ins installed.)

In the course of testing (copying from an html email into an html email, for
instance), I discovered that using the Paste button instead of CTL+ V solved
the problem.

Now, I'd rather be able to use the keyboard, but I have a feeling it would
take a lot of back-and-forth to isolate what might be the problem, and since
nobody else has reported this, it's probably not worth your and my collective
time and effort.

I'd be thrilled if someone sees this and says "me, too!" but I ain't holding
my breath.

Thanks again for your support,

1.Text truncated when pasted into Excel (Paste Special - Paste Link)

When pasting text into an Excel cell (Paste Special - Paste Link - HTML), the
text is cut off after only a couple of sentences (Wrap Text and Auto Fit are
selected). Is there a way around this?? The text is only a few hundred
characters. Using Excel 2000.

Or can anyone suggest a better way of linking. The spreadsheet is just to
provide an overview/summary of the progress of a heap of documents (but needs
to have more columns than is manageable in Word).

Cheers

2.Copied text from Notepad disappears when pasted to Outlook XP

This seems to be a recurring but intermittent problem.

3.pasted text disappears

It seems that whenever I cut and paste text from most any application into
Outlook, it shows up as invisible. If I select the new area where the text
should be and change the color of that text to BLACK, there it is --
perfectly visible. It seems that anything with color set to the default
AUTOMATIC is invisible. I've made signatures in Outlook 2007 and they, too,
are invisible in a new message unless I select them and change the color.

Other people receiving mail from me say it looks fine when they get it, but
if they try to cut and paste some of my text, it shows up invisible in
whatever other e-mail message or application they're pasting it. Wierd!

I had this problem so often in Outlook Express that I recently switched over
to Outlook to try and get past it. However, the problem followed me right
into Outlook. There's gotta be a setting somewhere that tells the system
AUTOMATIC is not black ... maybe white? (I haven't tested it on a colored
background to see.)

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

4.make previous label text disappear upon click and type

I want to be able to click on a label in the form design view, and when
i press a character key on the keyboard, the previous label text will
disappear and be replaced by what I type. Or at least a quick keyboard
command that will clear what is there. It is very time-consuming to
have to select the text. Any ideas?

5.pasted HTML text disappears

Thanks Jean_Guy

That was the first thing I thought too, but the font is black on a white
background.
To double check, I tried to pasted it into a .doc and it pasted fine.

However, in EXCEL, I have to double click the mouse to get the text to
appear.

I just noiticed that when I do that, most of the options, on the standard
options toolbar, selected from the "View," go gray.

Opening "View," on the Menu, when the only choice that isn't gray is
"toolbars.".

For the cell that keeps hiding, at the input box at the top of the page,
where a "=" is entered to indicate the cell contains a formula is active and
shows, an X, a check mark, and the = sign.

However, for the cells that show text, that area is gray and empty. When I
select one of those cells, all the options that gray out when the "blank" row
that contains a header and has to be double clicked to get it to show, return.

So, we are still unsolved on this problem. Oh, I also checked to see if
anyting was hidden and it wasn't.

More help is needed to figure out how to simply paste the headers in a cell,
without having them disappear unless I double click the cell and keep the
curson in it.

Thanks, Bob
