Part of signature ends up double-spaced on replies/forwards only
by QnJpYW4 » Thu, 23 Oct 2008 09:03:04 GMT
I created Outlook signatures for a set of users. Each user's signature
included a list of company names (Normal + Bold / Times New Roman / 12),
centered near the bottom of the signature, after about six left-justified
user-specific lines (Normal / Times New Roman / 12) for name, phone, etc.
When used on an original message, the entire signature is correctly
single-spaced; however, when used in a reply or forward, the bold four lines
appear double-spaced (the rest of the signature appears to be correctly
single-spaced).
I did them in Word, then copied & pasted into their signatures in Outook.
A font problem? Something else?

I have fixed this problem by editing the signature template.
Remove all <return> characters at the end of the line and
use the <shift>+<enter> to end each line.
This bypasses the "handy dandy" smart paragraphing
feature that is causing you pain on your replies.
Below is an article that will explain a bit about how to find and
change the "Smart paragraph" feature:

2.Signatures double spaced when replying or forwarding
Outlook 2003 SP1. User has a sig file. His default e-mail is set to Rich
Text. When creating a new mail, his sig is inserted and renders with no
problem. However, the same signature, if used when you enable Insert when
replying and forwarding, is inserted with double spaces.
So, for the time being, we just turn it off for replying and forwarding.
Any ideas why this does this, and how it could be resolved?
Thanks in Advance,
