  • 1. issue with email subfolders
I have 3 email accounts set up in Outlook - 2 hotmail & 1 msn. I have many "subfolders" under each email account that I use to sort old emails. My problem is that whenever I open a subfolder in any of the email accounts - it lists all of the saved emails under the heading of the designated "default" email. As I click on any of the emails to highlight them, they disappear, then reappear in a seperate column under the first. This is very annoying and time consuming. Any suggestions?
  • 2. How do I retreive contacts, etc on good drive, bad computer?
My computer power supply is fried. The hard drive is fine and functioning in a "backpack". However, I have been unable to retrieve my contacts file and my old email. Is there anyway that I can do this or am I stuck with starting from scratch. Thanks
  • 3. Sending message for 6 days! How do I stop it?
I wasn't thinking and sent a very large attachment. My whole computer is slow because I can't stop the transmission. Outlook won't let me delete it because it has "already begun transmission".
  • 4. Saving Messages in Sent Folder
I checked into some of the threads on this. I do have the tab marked to automatically save them. And it works - for my default email address. I just noticed that if I use one of the other addresses that Outlook handles for me, none of the messages sent are saved in the Sent Folder. And I cannot find them anywhere else either. I did create a rule to 'fix' that so now all my messages are saved, but I was curious about 'why' - if that indeed is what happened - Oulook would only save messages from the one account. Or just what I missed somewhere along the line. And I don't know a whole lot - just a sort-of occasionally semi-competent user. I couldn't even find the answer to my question in the help. Thanks much! Denise
  • 5. Outlook 2007 does not work
I just launched Outlook 2007 from 2003. When I try to open Outlook 2007, I get an error message stateing the message folders could not be found. I then open control panel and refresh the network configuration. When I open Outlook 2007 it works. Then I close and when I try to reopen Outlook 2007, I get the same error message. This is an endless loop. Any suggestions?

Cannot send OL 2007 email from Office 2007 App if OL is not runnin

Postby Smlt » Thu, 02 Jul 2009 22:43:01 GMT

If OL 2007 is not open as an active application and I try to send a document
from an Office 2007 application (e.g., Word, Excel) as an email attachment
using the Office App command sequence [Office Icon] > Send > E-mail, the
Office App hangs (perpetual whirly circle) and has to be terminated with Task
Manager. If OL 2007 is running then that command sequence works fine. (A
draft email opens with the App document attached.)

I'm using Office / Outlook 2007 and I'm pretty sure that SP-2 is installed,
but I can't figure out how to confirm that. I'm using Vista but I can't
figure out how to determine what version.

Any suggestions (besides trying to remember not to do that if OL 2007 is not
running)?

Thanks.

1.Cannot open a hyperlink in an email written with OL 2007 in OL 200

Hi I have a strange problem.

We are using RTF format in Outlook 2003, deactivating word as Email editor.
This enables to send hyperlinks to files on network shares (e.g.
X:\Marketing\letter.doc) by using Insert File then choosing Insert as
Hyperlink. This appears as <file://\\server\share\Marketing\letter.doc> in
the email body and is clickable.
The same email sent to an Outlook 2007 also works, e.g. it's possible to
click on the hyperlink.

Now an email with a hyperlink written with Outlook 2007 will work when read
in Outllok 2007. I also note that is is transformed on the fly as a hyperlink
with text X:\Marketing\letter.doc and link
File:///\\server\share\Marketing\letter.doc, although I deactivated the
option 'Replace Internet and Network Paths with hyperlinks' in both
AutoFormat and AutoFormat as you type in Both Outlook's Editor options as
well as in Word 2007.

When read with Outlook 2003, unfortunately the hyperlink is not there
anymore, only text (e.g. X:\Marketing\Brief.doc) and people cannot click on
the hyperlink.

Any idea how I can make these hyperlinks written in Outlook 2007 work with
Outlook 2003?

Thanks,
Cedric

2.Emailed calendar hyperlinks working in OL 2007 email, but not OL 2003

I just installed Office 2007 and discovered the option of being able to
email a calendar. I tried it out by emailing a full detail calendar for a
specific day to myself. The calendar details for this day contain
hyperlinks to a specific .html files on our local network.

The hyperlinks work just fine in OL 2007. However, when I email the same
calendar to a co-worker who is using OL 2003, the hyperlinks display as
plain text and, of course, don't work.

I tried forwarding the calendar I had emailed to myself from my account to
the co-worker, and in addition I copied and pasted one of the hyperlinks
into the message body. On my co-workers account, the hyperlink that I
entered manually into the message came through as a functioning hyperlink,
but the hyperlinks in the calendar details section of the message were still
treated as plain text content.

Each hyperlink in the calendar detail section of the email does break over
onto a second line, so I'm wondering if OL 2003 is breaking the hyperlink
because of that, whereas OL 2007 handles the long hyperlink just fine. Or
is there simply a setting in OL 2003 that needs to be modified?

3.outlook says i am organiser but i am not (ol 2007 sp2)

He changes the request and i want to delete the old request but its says
that i cannot delete the reqeust because i am the organizer

4.Easytransfer of OL 2003 to OL 2007 hangs at OL start up

Hi
I decided to move all my stuff off the old XP/2003 machine by means of
Easytransfer. 4 accounts were moved but only one of them had Outlook active.
On the new box which had Vista 64 Ultimate with all updates applied and 2007
also updated the MIG files were imported. This resulted in a RAID crash and a
subsequent rebuild and agony......
After that the first account was logged in (no previous OL user) and
configuration of OL and evreything went fine. Then I logged in with the users
that had an extensive OL 2003 mailbox - OL hung at the start up with a
detached window "Configuring Outlook" and body text " Configuring Outlook
Accounts" - Sure! = No I/O - No response - Nothing! Had to kill it through
task mgr. After tht another start and no it comes up in safe mode amd
everything goes fine. After waiting for everything to simmer down I exited
and went in again. To my surprise it throws up the detached window
"Configuring Outlook" again and goes into a freeze. Getting a bit worked up I
log out and log in a the first user and now this account behaves the same!!!
I've tried clearing out the 4 files (actually only found 2), I've tried the
"Outlook Tools 2.1" with every possible switch but as soon as I don't run
under safe mode OL will throw up the "Configuring Outlook" and lock up.
I'm running on a fresh Vista 64 with 4 GB Ram and 1 TB RAID 5 and I'm
getting very tired........
BTW - The other things transferred by ET worked surprisingly well even
though they caused some "contamination" with things that were unrelevant.
