Outlook 2003 SP3 Thanks, Tim

  • 3. Vista & Outlook 2007 errors
Hi there I had a power failure the other day which causes me to believe this is why I'm getting these errors. When I rebooted, I tried to open outlook... it took a few minutes to load... saw the "personal folders was not closed properly" load screen... followed by an error message that said: "Business Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or actions. Please try again" When I close that (it keeps coming up 4-5 times), I get the following pop up: "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been dectected in the file: c:\....\outlook.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair tool, see Help" So... after this, I close it and I looked all over the computer for scanpst.exe and couldn't find it... Everywhere I read it says that it's because my outlook.pst file is over 2GB in size but it's actually only 1.13GB. Your help will be gladly appreciated! Carlos

BCM and auto linking files/emails

Postby cmVk » Sat, 17 Jan 2004 00:56:28 GMT

Can I automatically link files to an Opportunity or an Account? If so, how is this accomplished? Also can emails be automatically linked to either an Account or an Opportunity or both?

You need to link files manually. Emails and opportunities should be
automatically linked to the parent account of the business contact.

1.BCM Contacts: Email Auto Link

Is there a way to set the auto link on as default vs. having to check
it each time a contact is added? This way all new contacts will
automatically be linked to emails sent and received.

I also had to copy my contacts from the default contact folder to BCM
contacts and it seems I have to go and email auto link each contact
individually.

If there is no default, is there a way to perform this on multiple
contacts?

2.BCM email Auto Linking buggy

Using Office 2007 outlook with BCM on XP

This is a repost because I received no reply need to resolve this problem.
The BCM auto email linking is great, but, it does not work:

Problem 1)
Enter a new BCM contact and enable auto linking (it works fine).
Change that clients email address from its original email address (auto
linking stops working, even if you re-enable it for that contact, which you
should not have to do).

Problem 2)
Some accounts it does work, some it does not. I have no idea what the
difference is. all account are enabled for auto linking of email

Question 3)
How can you tell if a BCM contact has already have AutoLinking turned on?

These problems cripple the value of BCM and is a ridicules bug.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks,
Bob

3.Contact has multiple email adds, how do I auto-link to both in BCM

I have contacts who have more then one email address and although I have them
listed within my Business Contact Record only the first email address is
available for auto linking within Business Contact Manager. Is there a way
to auto-link email which are sent by a persons secondary email address?

4.Auto Linking emails to BCM using subject line

I use a remote dictation service that emails me the notes I dictate after
meetings. All of the emails come from the same email address, so linking the
address to a BCM specific contact will not work for me. I would like to be
able to link to a contact using the subject line of an email, i.e. "Meeting
with John Jones" subject going to the John Jones business contact record and
the "Meeting with Jane Doe" subject going to the Jane Doe contact record,
even though both emails came from the same email address. Any ideas how I can
accomplish this?
