I don't have access to the version used in 1997 but need to access the programs. How do I do this?
Hi, Try to find someone who still has Project 98 or try to find a copy on e-Bay. Hope this helps,
In article < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >, Peter, If you have the older version files and simply want them translated to something that is compatible with current versions of Project, I can do that for you. You may e-mail them to me at the address below. John Project MVP jensenj6atatcomcastdotdotnet (remove obvious redundancies)
John, I have had some troubles with files created in 2000 and edited in 2003. The issue I have is getting the very same error that Microsoft issued a fix through Service pack 1 for Project 2002 and is covered in their article on knowledge base 817271. I mention this in case the same issue arises for Peter. At this stage I have had no joy with Microsoft unless I pay them to find a fix. Just a 'heads up' comment. Regards David C
Thanks all. Have found a colleague still using Project 98 ( fairly robust as far as it goes) Have converted original files to 98 and uploaded & saved as 2003 version. So far seems OK but have yet to start altering them so will have to see. Thanks again. Pete
In article < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >, Pete, You're welcome and thanks for the feedback. John
John, I have 3 small project files (either 98 or pre-98) that I cannot open with my current 2007 version of MS Project. Is it possible you might convert them? I would be happy to compensate you for your time and trouble! Sincerely, Philip ( XXXX@XXXXX.COM )
In article < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >, Philip, No problem. Zip them and send them to the encoded address I posted in my referenced message. If they are not corrupt, I'll convert them and send them back. There is no charge but I will ask some questions. John Project MVP

what is a good program for doing construction remodeling estimates?
2.DOING SAVE AS TO EXCEL, USING A MAP BUT DOESN'T INDENT THE TASKS
Help. When I do a save as to Excel it doesn't indent my tasks (WBS) like it does in project. I got it to work when I did a Save As to HTML, but not Excel. Using same map.
3.Start & finish times, can this be done using hours & minutes
I am building a plan I use a start and finish column with the day and date. When I update these columns the Gantt chart is updated. What I need to do is be able to include the start time so say 17:00 and the duration will then be calculated from this. Thanks
4.Project03 Flag Field anomaly
I have a process that exports data from Access to Project and generates Gantts automatically using automation. This process includes a procedure that inserts a row into the Project file and sets its Flag15 to Yes. The procedure works correctly on my workstation, but on two workstations at a different location the procedure errors out on the line that sets Flag15. The error occurs only When the process is launched directly on the workstations in question: if I connect to these workstations from my own location via remote desktop connection, the error does not occur. Today I traveled to the other location, logged on, and launched the process. Sure enough, the error occurred at the line in question. I examined the Project file and found that - only for the line just inserted by the process - the Flag15 field is grayed out and cannot be set either manually or by code. The Flag15 field in all of the other visible records behaves normally. I tried substituting several other flag fields and discovered that any flag other than Flag15 behaves normally. My workaround for this is to simply use another flag field; however, my curiosity remains - what could there be about Flag15 in a task row inserted in a Project file that behaves in this manner? The sole difference in the environments is that my workstation uses Project03 Standard and the problem workstations use Project 03 Pro, but the error occurs only when the app is launched on the problem workstations. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Dave
5.How to write programs using PDS ???
Hi, I am new to PDS. I have gone thru lot materials related to PDS. But still got confused at certain points. 1. In microsoft's documentation, they are talking about an EXTENDER class. I want to know where it is located in our system (In project server system).? Can we modify the code for EXTENDER class? 2. Regarding REPLY through XML.. For, eg: <Reply> <UserName></UserName> <ProjectsAccess> <Mode></Mode> <ResGlobalID></ResGlobalID> <ResGlobalName></ResGlobalName> </ProjectsAccess> </Reply> How do we modify the contents of the existing PDS method's reply ? OR How to create new reply for a method? 3. How the nodes (Mode, ResGlobalID, etc..) for each reply is selected?? Is there any List containg the available nodes?? Where all these information are located ?? Any help appreciated.... Thanx
