Hi I have project 2000. Thanks Alec

  • 4. Work before project actually starts
A project is scheduled to start on a certain date, but there is always time spent on planning, etc. before the actual project start date How does one keep track of that "upfront" work - should it be considered as a separate project And how does one "add" that work back into the project when it actually is confirmed and starts Thanks.
  • 5. Where Does Project Server Data Get Stored
We are in the process of implementing Microsoft Project Server 2003. To date I have completed the following: 1. Added four resources to the Enterprise Resource Center. 2. Created and published a project to the server with two tasks, that used two resources from the Enterprise Resource Center. In Project Web Access as a user with Administrative rights, I can view the four resources and the project that I created. Based on this I am assuming that everything worked correctly with regard to the way I created the resources and published the workplan using Project Professional. I would like to know the following: 1. When I used SQL's Enterprise Manager to look at the underlying database I was surprised to find six project server databases labeled ProjectServer, ProjectServer2185, ProjectServer6028, ProjectServer6405, ProjectServer9232, and ProjectServer9880. Why are there six project server databases and which one is storing the data? 2. What tables are being used to store the data. I looked in MSP_Resources and MSP_Projects, but didn't find any of my data? 3. Are there any write-ups that explain the database schema? 4. The reason I am asking is that we may want to write some of our own stored procedures to extract data. Is this a good approach or should I stick with the API's that are mentioned in the documentation? Thanks in advance for your help. Ken.

Updates dropping out of later versions

Hi,
I'm using MSProject 2000. I usually save the plan daily and work from a new
version so I have something to go back to if I make a mistake. I'm noticing
that some of my updates I've made previously are not coming through when I go
back to a section after a week or so. Specifically in the Actual finish, or
% Complete columns.

I've also noticed when I cut and paste in information from other plans
created by team members that sometimes some data does not come through.
(predecessors sometimes, or other info) Is there a rhyme or reason as to
what does & doesn't come in?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi E Hughes,

I'm not sure about the first issue. When you say updates are not coming
through is actual work disappearing? You mention Actual Finish and %
Complete are changing - I would expect that if you changed remaining duration
or remaining work in later updates.

As far as what gets copied, it depends upon what you select. If you select
just the Task Name and Duration fields, you'll only get that information
copied. If you select a task by the ID (row number) the you'll get all
information for that task including predecessors, successors, notes, etc.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie

4.Project Server 2003 latest service pack version number

Hi , can somebody please let me know what the "latest" version number
is for;
Project Server 2003
MS Project Professional 2003
WSS2 (if not the same as Project Server 2003)
SQL2000

I think Service Pack 3 is the latest download. When I visited the
Microsoft site I noticed there were "3" different downloads at the
bottom of the page. I think one is WSS2 service pack, one is project
server 2003 service pack and the other sql 2000 service pack? Am I
right? so where will I find the latest service pack for MS Project
Professional 2003? Have I missed anything else.

Can I confirm that I check the version number on the PWA Home page top
right corner by hovering over help? Or through control panel > add
remove programs > then select "Project Server 2003" or "MS Project
Professional 2003" then click on "click here for support information"
then the version number is displayed?

All feedback much appreciated.

thx
