• 1. Project 2003: Task constraint set automatically
    Hi Group, When i enter tasks in this specific MS-Project file, a new task automatically (or automagically) gets a constraint "start no earlier than" & today's date. As the project spans a time between feb 15, 2007 and october 2012 i have inserted tasks between both tasks set in the past & tasks set in the future. Project is planned from project start date. Anyone have any idea houw this happens / how it is turned off? Thanks in advance! Bernard
  • 2. multiple rates per person possible?
    A, The simple answer is "yes". However the best method for doing so depends on what you define as "sales rate" and "sales cost". In other words, a little more information would be very helpful. Nonetheless, the main Cost field in Project is derived from Resource Work * Resource Rate (and this can vary with time) + Fixed Cost + Material cost. Other cost fields can be developed with user defined formulas in custom fields. Hope this helps. John
  • 3. Microsoft Project use
    Can I use microsoft project to construct timeboxes for rapid application development?
  • 4. Future assignments planned ahead
    Hi All, I will appreciate any thoughts on the following question: I am building my plan for a project that will start next week and last a few months. I have 5 resources. Let's say any resource can do any task. Should I: 1) Assign in advance ALL the tasks to my resources just to have a complete schedule and then when executing the project to switch resources as needed? I am afraid that in this way I will not know how to divide the work evenly, and maybe leave some resource under- allocated, but at least I will have an idea of when my project will end. --OR-- 2) Assign resources only for the next couple of weeks and according to the way the project progress to assign the rest of the tasks? In this way I can assign the rest of the assignments to a generic resource (or maybe the team leader which is one of my resources) but either way resource leveling will not work: With generic resource, Project will schedule the task to start immediately although there is no human resource available, and with team leader assigned, resource leveling will result a finish date far late from reality (future work will be assigned to only team leader and not to all 5 resources...). We are using Project server 2007, so features like Team assignment (though we can't use it because team are rapidly changing in our organization) or Reassign work are available for us. will it help..? I hope I explained myself well enough. Thanks, Gil
  • 5. critical path/ tasks
    Hi hope someone can help, when using the gantt view "entry" - it is possible to pull up a task form view where you are able to select resources/predecessors, etc, when using this task form to display predecessors, / successors is there a way that i can show the % c/t bar as well - this would allow me to see not only the tasks but the status of each predecessor as some of my projects have more than one dependancy and without viewing each of them you cannot determine where the delay is thanks in anticipation

Hi,

Interaction with Active Directory is I think only enabled when connected to
Project Server and setting it up is an admin function. So, if you don't have
Project Server, you can't synchronise with Project Server, hence it being
greyed out.

How much problem is it for this process of switching to Active Directory.
How do I get the step by step process to switch to Active Directory?

3.Active Directory Group Synchronize Errors - Project Server 2003

====== Error 1 ===============
Component: AD Connector
File: AutoADProcess
Line: -1
Description:
AD PWA sync for : Help Desk - Internal PWA Group Error : (91)Object variable or With block variable not set

======= Error 2==============
Component: AD Connector
File: AutoADProcess
Line: -1
Description:
Accessing AD group LDAP://CN=*****,OU=******,OU=*****,OU=*****,OU=*****,DC=*****,DC=*****,DC=***** failed due to error 28-FetchGroup: Out of stack space

==========================
The first error I get trying to synchronize our Help Desk group with the Help Desk group in Project Server 2003

The second error I get because of recursive group membership. Group A is a member of Group B...Group B is a member of Group A. Both A and B are members of C. I'm trying to synchronize C with Project Server. There are about 100 "warning events" in the event viewer before the "Out of Stack Space" error.

How can I get these errors to stop?

Thanks.
John

4.Active Directory with Project Server 2003

We want to use Active Directory for Enterprise Resource Pool(ERP) in our new Project 2003 implementation but our AD is not completely set up yet. Can we go without AD for now and then switch to AD when it is completely set up? Do you see any issues with this approach. Please advise. Thanks in advance for your help.

5.Project Server 2003, Active Directory, RBS & the Resource Pool

I have successfully migrated our production Project
Server 2002 implementation to Project Server 2003 on a
test system.

I am now ready to figure out the new features. Does
anyone have any guidance on the Active Directory hooks in
MPS2003 and how it effects the RBS and the Resource Pool?

Even reference material would help...

Thanks!
