I am using a resource pool across multiple projects and I found an error with the reporting of overallocation in the Resource view. Each task is showing up three times within the resource view which skews the resource overallocation I was wondering if anyone had encountered a similar problem and found a solution Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Does anyone know of any free viewer software for MS Project?

Hello, I am setting up a common resource pool file so that PM's within my company can link their projects (Each PM has their own portfolio) to it. I am now trying to figure out how I can setup "Portfolio" Groups within the resource pool file. I tried to group per "Project" column, but it only groups into 1 group as it assumes that there is only 1 project - the "resource pool" project. Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks! Mark
  • 4. Project HTML files and task bars
I'm currently using Project 2000...I need to send out a gantt in HTML/web format, but I can't tell from the standard list of map options if it's possible somehow to include the tasks bars themselves in the web page view. My messing around and tweeking have provided no results...any idea if task bars can be viewed if saved as a web page? Thanks much.

i'm a new user and am not sure project is what I need. I am respsonsible for tracking, scheduling travel for my department. I am to keep up with costs for each trip and present reports as such. is this the correct software for this? I need to be able to show a timeline/calendar of all trips planned. should I make each trip a project itself or could each trip be a task with sub-tasks? I need to accomplish several things for each trip. please advise Cleo

Auto Calculate Roll Up in Costom Fields in Project 2003

I can't figure out how to get the roll up in custom fields to automatically update when new values are entered. I always have to hit the "calculate project" button

Any way to get them to automatically update like the standard fields do

Auto Calculate Roll Up in Costom Fields in Project 2003

JLR:

Modify your custom field. Go Tools, Customize, Fields,
select the custom field you want to remodify. About half
way down the custom field dialog box there is a section
entitled "Calculation for task and group summary rows."
You should select Rollup - Sum.

If after this, the field still doesn't calculate
automatically, check your calculation options and make
sure calcs are set to automatic.

Good Luck!

1.Customised field roll-ups seem to be screwy

2.Proj2002 bug: Task roll-ups

This is a repeatable bug across my project.

I have a project which I am working backwards from a deadline, so the tasks
are all set to "As late as possible". The tasks are put at one point in
time, but the task roll ups dates seem to default to now.

Example:
- Task Summary 40 days 1/4/2005 10/5/2005
     Task item1 20 days 1/8/2010 20/8/2010
     Task item2 20 days 21/8/2010 10/9/2010

(note the summary dates do not match the task item dates)

Any ideas if there is a fix for this problem?

Thanks

3.Resource Roll Ups

I need some help understanding how resources work and baseline work roll up
in the resource usage view. Here is the process: (we are using Project 2000)

We saved 3 tasks all done by the same resource that were under a summary bar
and the summary bar to a baseline. Total hours and baseline hours were 240
hours when you viewed the resource usage view.

Next we added another task for the resource under the summary bar and saved
just that task as a baseline. Now if you view the resoruce usage view for
the resource. The baseline work for that resource is 240 hours, but the work
is 320 hours.

If you look at the task usage view you see the same difference. This is
what I have seen before. However I would expect the resource usage view to
not have this behavior. Is this correct? How does project calculate the
resource summary information?

thanks.

4.Baseline Value Roll-ups no working

I'm grouping my resources by the various work areas in-house. When I use the
resource usage view, to do the breakout, it won't sum up the Baseline Work or
Baseline Cost values. If I use cost and work alone , it sums up fine.
What's the deal?
