Hi, Project Pro 2003. I have a plan with 3 named resources and 1 generic resource. The generic resource is set to 300% availability. I assign work to the named resources for the next few weeks and assign the rest of the work to the generic resource. When I level the plan Project OVER ALLOCATES the generic resource. It assigns 16-25 days of work to the generic resource where it should only assign 15 days/week. The leveling I am using is week-by-week. Can anyone explain this behavior? -- Matthew McDermott Project Manager Catapult Systems Corp.

Hi Everywhere I look there is stated that the deadline field has no impact on the task whatsoever. Now, when you put a deadline on a task and then for one reason or another you also use the ALAP constraint on the task, you'll remark that the task will never pass the deadline date Anyone any explanation about that Kind Regards iLDC

Hyperlink - specify a destination of hyperlink

Postby SnVzdGluZQ » Fri, 07 May 2004 06:26:02 GMT

Hello

I have a question in regards to hyperlinks. I currently link about 60 or so documents a day to my Microsoft Project Master plan. When you click on "Insert" then "Hyperlink" the "Insert Hyperlink" box appears. In the "Look in" box, it defaults to "My Documents". I want to change that default to a shared drive where my projects are stored

Here's what I tried so far

1) Help topic "Specify the destination of a hyperlink":
"File" --> "Properties" --> "Summary" ta
In the "hyperlink base" box I entered both the full path and then just the drive letter and folder and neither worked
For example: \\Phx-idn-fs01\cimdom\Investment Projects -OR- I:\Investment Project

2)  "Tools" --> "Options" --> "Save" ta
In the "file locations" box you can click on "modify" button to modify the following
- Project
- User Template
- Workgroup Template
- ODBC Databas
There doesn't appear to be an option for hyperlinks here. For the heck of it I changed all of them to the full path and they are working fine. Now I just need the "hyperlink" destination to be set up
For example: File types: Project , Location: \\Phx-idn-fs01\cimdom\Investment Project

If you can help that would be great! It would save me alot of time and frustration. Thanks in advance

Justin

Is there anybody out there that can figure this one out? It really does take an awful lot of time to attach documents when I have to keep changing the path.

Thanks in advance

Hi Justine.

Have you tried going ahead and adding a shortcut to the My Places bar? That
should give you the shortcut to the shared drive (at least) for hyperlinks.
In Microsoft Project 2003, search the help for "Add Shortcut to My Places
bar."

1.Problem with hyperlinks when moving destination file in excel

Dear Support,

I was working in an excel workbook that contains too many hyperlinks to
another excel file.
The two workbooks were located on a server and not to my computer.
After a failure the two files were recovered from excel program.
I saved the recovered files on top of the originals but now I have the
following problem: the links of the recovered file are not working because
are trying to transfer to my computer (C:\Documents and
Settings\u0260$\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\......) and not to the
actual location on the server.
If I paste the destination file to this folder on my computer the links are
working but the workbooks must be located on the server and not to my PC.
Please advice how to solve this problem.

2.Exporting Hyperlink Destinations to csv

I have a spreadsheet that contains Hyperlinks in a perticular column.
would like to be able to export the destination of these hyperlinks t
a csv file.

These hyperlinks have been pasted from IE as links to webpages, (ie no
created with the HYPERLINK function)

I think basically looking for a reverse hyperlink function that ca
read the link_location and ideally the friendly_name, and output thes
to seperate columns.

I cant find any way to access it via VB script either.

Does anybody know how to do this, or have come up with a workaround fo
this problem?

thanks

3.Formula: Add rows/lines to destination in Hyperlink

trying to have an in-document hyperlink, that has a way of fixing a position,
so as lines are entered/removed around, then link stays in same spot. I
spend half my time resetting cell references in large document, to navigate.

Example have is:
=HYPERLINK("#"&CELL("address",A82),"top") need help to include: add 32
lines past A82 example, thanks

Istead of picking ~32 lines after my real destination (where cut-pastes
above my "title-line", would cause every thing to shift & hyper-link to be
off, way too often),,, maybe I need to use the exact title line as the
reference & add 32 lines past it, within the formula. possibly need to use
an Absolute Cell Reference? Thanks

4.Hyperlinks - identifying source in destination sheet

Just getting back into Excel after long time away so a bit rusty

I have built a macro that will create hyperlinks for many rows o
results and the destination cells or ranges may be hyperlinked severa
times, dependant on the results.

Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to create icons in th
destination sheet/file which, when clicked, will take the user back t
the cell or range that holds the hyperlink?

Putting the icon issue to one side, can the destination sheet revea
which file/sheet is hyperlinking to it?

Thanks
