  • 1. Copy/Paste to Outlook
hi, I have an issue with Copying/Pasting specific selected tasks to Outlook. Normally, I select the tasks from the Gantt View on the left, hit copy then I go to Outlook (new message) and hit Edit/Paste Special/Pictures (Window Metafile) and it will copy the tasks I've selected - but it also copy the gantt pic from the right hand pane and takes some info from there including resource info (even if I push it right off the screen). Can anyone help me to just copy and paste into Outlook what I've slected from Project. I'm using Project 2000. Thanks, Shiv

  • 3. How do I move the start date for all tasks when none are linked?
I've imported a large number of tasks from Excel. They are not linked. I need to move all of their start dates by a fixed time. Is there a Project command or simple macro that can do this?
  • 4. scheduling for a non-profit organization
I am in charge of a non-profit organization and would like to manage our yearly project with Microsoft project. Because I work with volunteers I can't assign each individual a number of days or hours that they will work on the project . I only know the date that the task should be done by. Can we schedule tasks only by the finishing date and not worrying about the hours and days that it takes. If yes how do I do it without having MS Project messing up all the dates on the graph? thanks for your help Claire

I want to post the project to the web server. When I do I want the users to
be able to change the dates the task acually starts and stops. How can I do
this?

I assume you're talking about updating the plan with actuals when the users
do the work. That's what Project Web Access is for. IMO, you should never
let them update the *planned* start and finish directly - that's strictly
the province of the Project Manager.

Bill at HP --

You must add the Actual Start and Actual Finish fields to the list of
published fields in each project using Tools - Customize - Published Fields.
Be sure and select the "Let resource change field" option for both fields
and then click OK. You must then publish each project using Collaborate -
Publish - Republish Assignments. After doing this, your Project Server
administrator should add these two fields to the Timesheet view in PWA.
Lastly, you should teach your team members how to use these fields properly
while entering progress in their timesheet. Hope this helps.

1.Let Task duration change by changing Task finish date

Hi,

Is there a way to let the duration of a task automatically change when you
change the task finshish date.

E.g. Task 1 starts on Mon 1st and finishes on the Fri 12th = 10 days
duration. I then chnage the end date to the Fri 19th. By default project puts
a constraint on the end date, keeps the duration at 10 days and moves the
start date to Mon 8th. I would rather it kept Mon 1st and extended the task
to 15 days duration.

Thanks for your time

2.When doing a project can you toggle between start date and finish date

I have to complete my project on a specific date. At the moment it is
set up just with a project start date. Can I toggle between project
start date and project finish date withough having any serious
repercussions?

Thank you

4.Let Resource Change Field on Timesheet - Actual Start/Finish

We would like to enable resources to enter assignment actual starts and
actual finishes on their timesheets.

In Project Pro 2003, I went to Customize Publish Fields, and moved actual
start/finish into the tasks view, and selected "Let Resoure Change Field".

In PWA I went to Manage Views, Timesheet view, and moved these fields into
"Displayed Fields".

The fields display in the timesheet view, but are not editable by the
resources. Am I missing a step, or is this not possible?

Is their another way to solve the problem of resources marking tasks as
complete that are scheduled to start in the future, thus distorting the model
of remaining work?

Scott.

5.Change the date tasks starts and finish in MS Project Web Access 2

Hi!

When a user logs onto my MS Project Web Access 2003 server, they are not
able to change the dates for the tasks under the menu "View my tasks".
However viewing/adding Notes, changing the "% Work Complete" goes just fine
under the same menu.

Does anyone know why this does not work? Thanks :-)
