  • 1. Repeated "check mail"
Hi, Using 7.1.0.9 on a Sony Vaio laptop with Vista. E. gets into phases where it repeatedly checks for new mail every two seconds or so. Carries on until I close - closing generates an error messge. Similar phenomenon sometimes on a Dell Latitude running XP. Never on a Dell Optiplex running XP. Any ideas? Thanks, Gordon

  • 3. Eudora 8 opening two windows
Hi Group, I just updated from Eudora 8.0.2 to 8.0.3 ( I may have the Ver. # wrong ) just a minor tweak. Now when I start Eudora it opens two folders in separate windows, my inbox and my saved mail folder. How do I fix this? I had Eudora open when I opened a saved e-mail folder on a flash drive which opened in a separate window. Now it's opening the saved e-mail folder without the flash drive. Thanks, Jim --

List: I've just discovered that when I bring up "Help" topics, in Eudora version 7.1.0.9 and choose the "Find" tab, the "Find Setup Wizard" dialog box appears, but when I click on "next", then "Finish", I get a dialog box that states: "Unable to display the Find Tab (177)" Can anyone help? TIA!
  • 5. Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 problems
For the last couple of months I've been having problems with html emails which have "Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64" at or near the beginning of the email. The message displays the html text mostly with sopmetimes a reversion to displaying the html later in the mail. Has anyone else experienced this and if so (more importantly!) does anyone know how to cure it? I'm using Eudora 7.1.0.9 Paid mode with WinXP + SP3 and all recommended updates. The emails in question display perfectly in Thunderbird. Thanks.

Turn Off Error Sounds?

How do I turn off annoying error dinging sounds in Eudora 6?
Sometimes my isp server goes out for short times and I don't need to
hear this warning.

Eudora doesn't have error sounds. It's a Windows feature that you can
turn off in Control Panel.

I think it is called Default Beep, especially since you call it a
ding, rj, and one of the events that plays ding.wav is the Default
Beep.

It is useful, however, when something happens that doesn't show on the
screen, because another window is covering it. For example, I think
that is the sound I hear when my dial-up connection doesn't go
through. This comes with a box and eventually I see the box, but the
ding speeds things up.

What's good while you are there is to change the sound for Start
Windows. The default sound is somewhat too glorious for my opinion of
Windows.

2.Turning off sound when loging on & off

I know how to mute sounds permanantly until i unmute them. How do I mute the

3.KMessageBox::error sound - how to turn off completely

I hate having sounds on my computer, so I went into KDE 3.5's control
center, and went to the sound page and turned off all sounds. I
clicked the "Apply to all" button and clicked turn off all sounds, and
I even went through the 20 or so menu options for different sounds
types and made sure that all of them were off. What I still get is the
KDE_glass_break sound when I'm using kvpnc and I make a mistake, or
the ding sound when I delete a profile. I am using Debian Unstable. I
check the kvpnc source and I see that it uses KMessageBox::error to
inform about an error and I think it is from there that the sound is
made. How do I turn the sound off without having to mute the entire
system.
