  • 1. ExpandNickname won't stay enabled
Hi, I am running Eudora Light 3.0.6 (don't laugh please) and I have ExpandNickname=1 in the INI file. However, this keep reverting to disabled (ExpandNickname=0). This doesn't happen every time I run Eusora but it does happen frequently. I don't access/change the settings often so I don't think I am inadvertently changing the option. Does anybody know why Eudora would reset this option and how I can stop it ? -- Steven
  • 2. Unhandled error report
See posting on 11/11 regarding popup notice of unhandled error when shutting down the window. tonite when I get this notice and OK the error report request that follows the response is that I must connect to the internet when I am already connected as I am connected now--interesting.
  • 3. Still trying to use Eduora iso Outlook.
I've been using Eudora for ten years now, never had to worry about the guts of it - I would install it on a machine and it would run, no problems. However, a friend's laptop with Win2000 has Outlook and Outlook Express working just fine, but when I try to run a basic installation, accepting all defaults, the same settings for Outlook put up the error message - Connecting to the Mail Server..., Error getting network address for "" Cause:socket not bound to address [10022] Any ideas, please? -------------------- Beware of imitations

  • 5. Unhandled Error Report for Eudora 7: my test and possible solution.
I have been opening Eudora using a separate Eudora icon installed on my Desktop - NOT in the "Start" menu. So far, whenever I use my Desktop icon to open Eudora, I do not get the "Unhandled Error Report." Any opinions? Thanks

New message window width

Postby Peter Dougherty » Fri, 20 Feb 2004 15:03:06 GMT

Just a small problem that's been driving me batty for months. Whenever
I start a new message window (CTRL-N) it's always too narrow and I
need to stretch it out. Is there a setting I can change to allow me to
make the change once then have it become permanent?

I looked in the Eudora.ini file and nothing was obvious.

Thanks in advance.

Hi John,
I guess I didn't explain fully. This is not a case of viewing incoming
message, but when I create a new message. Incoming messages and
mailboxes seem to retain their sizes once closed, but the window in
which new messages are composed does not.

In version, Tools | Options | Viewing Mail seems to control
only the Microsoft viewer, which I have set disabled.

Thanks again for any assistance.

No, you explained it well enough, and that is the answer. The message
window size controls both windows for open messages and the composition
window. Did you try setting those settings to the desired size and then
opening the composition window?

Mailbox windows remember their sizes. Messages windows do not. They use
the size you have set as mentioned above. It sounds like you may be
viewing your received messages in the preview pane rather than opening
them and viewing them in message windows.

No. The only option there that has to do with the MS viewer particularly
is the one to turn it on or off.

Wrong. Give it a try. It should work.

1.message window height/width??

I have finally upgraded to 6.0, and was changing some of the settings.

The "Viewing Mail" setting for "window height" and "window width"
require 2 numbers. I have changed this setting, but it seems to have
no effect on the actual message display window.

Anyone understand exactly what these are supposed to do??

2.4.21beta - Message width setting in message editor is ignored

When writing a new message, go to the "Special" tab and change the
setting for the message width from the predefined value to a new one. Go
back to the message tab and write some text. It will be wrapped in the
editor at positions according to the new limits just defined, but when
the message is sent the former value will be used for word wrap (thus
ignoring the new limit for this special message).

If my memory serves me well, this worked correctly in version 4.12a, but
I'm not absolutely sure. Can somebody pls. check and maybe confirm this?

5.Setting frame width to width of titlebar text

I'd like a dialog with a variable title to open to the minimum of the size

the titlebar text? And how can I pass that information to the layout engine
as a minimum-width constraint?
