  • 1. How To "Save Password" When SMTP != POP3 ??
We have added SMTP authentication to our mail server recently, and Eudora (6.1.2.0 paid) no longer properly "saves" my "password". Is this because my SMTP and POP3 passwords are different, or is this a bug/design flaw in Eudora re SMTP authentication? Thanks!
  • 2. how to set so linked images off my system won't open??
Hi all, I just received an email that had a link to an animated gif somewhere off my system(it did this automatically, I had to look at the source code to see it), the .gif was to make it look like it was scanning my system, then popped up a window saying it had found 65 spyware files, and to click OK to remove them... well, obviously I recognized this as a no-no, but I thought I had my system setup to avoid this... Is there a way to set this so this won't happen in the future? Turning off the Microsoft Viewer perhaps? I have just recently turned it on to fix another problem, so I'm thinking this may be the culprit, but just need to know if it's that or something else. thanks, niteowl
  • 3. Msg content not displayed
Hi, (again!) (Boy! two posts in one sitting - Eudora's going South on me!!!) I have about a hundred (or more) mail boxes with filters directing mail here and there. I use the "tabs" at the bottom of the Eudora (paid 6.x.x.x) screen to choose what to read next. This morning, I had opened a very small mailbox (eight messages total) and opened the current message. With this message I "revealed" All Headers and, using the mouse, highlighted and deleted everything that wasnt't the "meat" of the message. {These are weekly tech notes, and I have been using this technique for years to save just the notes.} Eudora "exception error"ed and closed as I tried to Exit and Save the just edited message. When I returned to this particular mailbox the content of ALL messages was missing - and YET the contents ARE in the my_tech_mailbox.mbx. And the TOC file contains the Date, Subject etc. I have tried to Copy-n-Paste teh content back into one of the messages using the Edit_the_Message tool but on closing the message I am not asked to "Save Message?" and the content remains empty. My question is, is there any way to rebuild this mailbox so that the content is again displayed in Eudora? Thanks ...Bryce
  • 4. paid registration info not available
Because of the scum-sucking done by my ISP i recently re-installed Eudora 4.3. It had been in paid mode. Trying to overcome the "outgoing Port 25" blockage by my ISP I, mistakenly, thought Eudora was to blame. I installed Eudora 6.1 and lost my paid mode status. Does anyone know how to recover my 4.3 paid mode status? I was smart enough to save my .TOC and MBX but there's no (old) msg there that provides any information. thank you.

[6.2.1] -- Spurious "M$" mailbox window on intial d/l

Postby Green Frog » Wed, 15 Jun 2005 12:06:51 GMT

Running WinXp Pro on a Toshiba Satellite with 512M, I recently installed
Eudora 6.2.1. It behaves fine so far, except for an empty mailbox shown
always w. other valid one(s) when the client first starts. It's labeled
with the MicroSoft logo and no text; every time it shows itself, it is
minimized & the other valid mailboxes are neither minimized nor maximized; &
it's happening with greater frequency.

I remember the same M$ window in v5 under WinNT 4.0, but it occured so
rarely that it wasn't worth bothering about.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

GF

I wish I had a suggestion as I have the same problem. Eudora has behaved
fine for me for years and this problem just started about a month ago. I
tried many things to get rid of it including going to "Options" -getting
attention and un-checking the open mailbox option. The InBox still opens
with the phantom box too.

If you come up with any suggestions please let me know.

This comes up here periodically. It's a constant nuisance for
many (myself included), but nothing more than that. Most here are just
waiting for the next version or update. For what they're worth, many
reports have been sent to Eudora about this.

An "Orphan Bug", hmm? Something that affects so few people relatively, and
is no more than annoying, that it is judged to take too many personhours to
fix, so it goes on from version to version...

I have a picture of it here:

...in case anyone (still) isn't familiar with it. Funny thing
is that I've just updated to 6.2.3.4 (Paid) and it seems to be
happening _intermittently_ now. Well, that's a change...

No, wrong. It happens consistently every time I open the
application.

Despite numerous requests, Eudora techs have not addressed
this supreme annoyance. That's very disappointing.

1.How do I export my mailboxes and Address book to MS Outlook or MS Outlook Express

Greetings

I normally use Eudora for sending/receiving email for a Non Profit
Society I belong to. The President & Directors of the Society want to
read the Email I send/receive, but do not want to use Eudora, they
want to use MS Outlook (yeh I know, but not everyone is smart like us)
The Question is, how do I export the Mailboxes & Address book to MS
Outlook or MS Outlook Express.

Any help would be appreciated

4.Spurious windows

Hi,

When I start IE, I always get a couple of windows thrown up. One of the
(usually) says 'Wevcrawl - Search The Web', and the other just says
Microsoft Explorer. The odd thing is that the former can be seen in the
taskbar, but cannot be maximized, and the latter throws up a small window
with nothing in that I cannot resize. If I close the windows, they
invariably re-surface at some time.

I have a firewall (hardware, Netgear), anti virus checker (AVG), I have run
Ad-Aware and Spybot, and everything seems clean. Anyone have any ideas as to
where I can look for hat is causing this?

TIA

Bob
