  • 1. Password Saving
Eudora frequently asks me for my Password (for a second A/c too, which I swear I never created, came after I Imported from Outlook Express). I have the 'Save Password' checked in my 'Checking Mail' also. What could my problem be?
  • 2. Is 7.0.0.10 a resource hog?
Win 2K Pro. 512MB RAM. Lots of mass storage. Keep registry fairly well-maintained. Check for bugs and assorted fauna regularly. Defrag weekly. Never had overhead trouble with 6.X. With 7.0.0.10 opened in the background, I noticed all programs coming to a crawl. Checked resources, Eudora was using 99% of CPU time. Doesn't happen right after I open Eudora, but after a little while. Gotta have it open since I frequently get hyperlinks within my email. Has anyone else noticed anything similar? Any workarounds? A fix in the making? I keep my IN and OUT files under 1MB, empty thrash upon exit, but do have saved email from probably 10 years back, sorted in probably 60 email boxes and maybe 100 filters. Wouldn't have thought that would matter. Any thoughts on the subject? Best, Andrew -- Birmingham, Alabama, USA XXXX@XXXXX.COM

How can I use extended ASCII characters in the 6.2 text editor? Thanks, DP
  • 4. Resynchronize IMAP mailbox TAKES FOREVER
In Eudora, if there are a significant number of e-mails in an IMAP folder that Eudora has to "catch up" with and download the headers, it takes FOREVER. We're talking only 10 or so headers per second tops. And yes, I have it set to to download "Minimal headers only." Outlook Express and Thunderbird are AT LEAST 10 times faster at downloading the headers from an IMAP folder. In fact, I have found Eudora's IMAP handing to be slow and buggy in general, and have had to abandon it in favor of Thunderbird for new mail -- which is too bad because in general I like Eudora's feature set better. However, I have a significant archive of e-mails that can only be read with Eudora due to its quasi-proprietary handling of rich-text and HTML e-mails -- which, when displayed in other e-mail clients, results in a bunch of HTML tags. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, does anyone out there have experience with the new 7.0 beta on IMAP? Have things improved?
  • 5. Eudora 7.0
About 10 days ago I loaded Eudora 7 when I went to the update format on Eudora 6. I ran into problems with it and undid the installation and put 6 back in. About the same time I installed Eudora 7 in a second computer that I run using a harness that enables me to use either one but not both with a single monitor-mouse-speakers and keyboard. Eudora 7 seems to work well in the old computer(W98se) so I went back to the update page to see if I could put in back in the newer one(WXPsp2) and it doesn't seem to be available. Apparently 7 is a beta version and wonder if they withdrew it to work out some type of bugs.

Error when renaming folders

Postby Inge Jones » Sun, 12 Oct 2003 03:12:46 GMT

When trying to rename folders from within Eudora, it tells me something
like (if only we could copy and paste error messages!) the folder was
closed for reading. I can do it in Windows Explorer and the changes
show ok in Eudora, but it would be nice to do it during runtime (-:

2.Renamed Folders Revert to Previous Names, Cannot Move Folders - FOLDERS ONLY

Hello Staff and Users of Vista Forums,

Recently, less than a week ago, I lost the control to rename or move my
folders. As you can presume, this problem is very tedious. I have looked
around the topics here on Vista Forums and have not been able to solve
the problem. I have taken ownership of my folders and that hasn't
changed the situation as suggested. When I do attempt to rename or move
my folders, I receive no message, and the file stays where it was, how
it was. This only happens with my folders, my files show no resistence
to being moved or renamed as I see fit.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 and have owned
the computer for around one and a half years. Vista was pre-installed.
Thank you for your attention and thanks in advance for your help.

3.Cannot rename rename a folder

I have been trying to sort out "My documents" and related shell folders
with two hard drives each with three partitions.

After reading all the web posts I to have a better understanding of the
way XP Prof makes and uses the shell folders.

However, when in Windows Explorer I look at the bottom of the folder
tree I see a folder called "Beemer's documents" (but with my real first
name and including the apostrophe). I cannot delete or rename this and
I can find no reference to "Beemer's documents" in the registry. When I
use XP search only this same folder is found.

What could be causing this?

Beemer

4.Can't Rename a Folder I renamed once before

I took over my daughter's computer and changed her user account to my name -
"Jorge". It is an Administrator account. There are two other accounts -
guest and asp.net. In "Documents and Settings", there are four folders -
Administrator, All Users, Daddy and Owner. "Daddy" was changed from my
daughter's name. All of user "Jorge" traffic shows up in "Daddy", and under
desktop at "My Documents" and elsewhere in "Jorge's Documents". I am about
to give this computer to another family menber and have been upgrading,
updating and housekeeping it. IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO RENAME "DADDY". Why?
How can I make the change? I do not remember how I did it the first time.

The consequences of what we do today shall be seen in the quality of our
future.
