The TOC fuction have this feature. Any suggestions would be much appreciated." Failing this, can the TOC, which has hyperlinks, be alphabetized without losing the links? Thanks, Dick

word, save as web page, forward slash is reset to backward slash in generated HTML

Postby mike » Mon, 20 Dec 2004 21:18:04 GMT

hi;

I depend heavily on word to generate web pages.
today I found some strange problem.
I am using MS word 2000 (9.0.3821 SR-1) on XP.

Inside word, when I create a link, I make sure I change
the link to be all FORWARD slash, i.e. '/' , since this
is what web servers wants.

Then I save word as .doc, followed by save one more
time as web page.

sometimes, do not know how, the links in the html file
remains BACKWARD slash. ie. `\`.

I am now looking at a word file, where the link inside
word is separated by '/' when I created it, then
I saved it as web page, looked at the html generated,
and it is still '\'.

Any ideas what is going on? I have many many files
like these, and need a way to fix them all.

thanks,
mike

And I forgot to ask,
is there a way to make WORD to automatically sets all the hyperlinks
to use forward slash '/' instead of the default `\` ?

This will save me lots of time, as I do not have to keep editing
the link by hand and reversing all these again. Are later versions
of word do this? I am using Word 2000 small office.
thanks,
Mike

Is that how long have you thought you were now looking at a word file?

Why do you think that going on is?

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I am creating an address label through Tools and I want to add a "c/o" (care of) on the label, but whenever I press the forward slash button the Word Help Home pops up. I have gone to the Customize Shortcuts and deleted the shortcut, but it still pops up. How can I get rid of this so I can put the forward slash on my label?

4.Mysterious changes in new hyperlink - backslash becomes forward slash

Existing hyperlinks work ok but news I try to create are changing their
formatting after I create them.

Correct file name displayed at time manual selection of target file (in a
subordinate directory called "testing") in "Edit hyperlink" window is:

testing\Quiz number 2.doc

After closing the "Edit window" when I try to activate the link I get error
msg "Cannot open specified file."

File name displayed upon reopening "Edit hyperlink" window is:

testing/Quiz%20number%202.doc

The backslash has mysteriously and all of sudden been converted to a
forwardslash.

Existing hyperlinks still work and opening and closing the "Edit hyperlink"
window doesn't cause this chage.

Help please.
