I am running Office2000 and am getting the infamous "WINWORD.EXE has generated errors" message whenever I run Word. I have tried the reinstall, the repair, checking NAV, renaming normal.dot, checked for any word files in word's startup, disabling the animated helper, and deleted the data key in the registry.....and yet I'm STILL getting the error. Is there anything else that could cause this, or any other links that would have any more ideas?

Up until recently, WORD 97 performs perfectly. Now when I click on the BOLD icon or use the keyboard function (Ctrl B)the text I start typing reduces to a so small a font size that it is unreadable. If I turn off the BOLD function, the text returns to its original size. I've removed Office 97 and reinstalled it and still have the same problem. Thank you for any help. Ilene

Characters in a word document become superimposed on top of one anoth

Postby Mark » Thu, 24 Jun 2004 20:05:19 GMT

I am using a table in Word 2002.
Characters in a word document become superimposed on top
of one another at the start of a line, When printing or
saving the document. Rebooting the PC and reentering the
Word document retrieves the missing data. But the problem
is frustrating.

1.font is unevenly spaced with characters running into one anoth

> Spacing: Normal
> Position: Normal

I checked out the above and all is as it should be.
When I highlight the text and bold it, the text hsd its normal spacing. When
I remove the bolding the text goes back to uneven spacing.

2.Characters superimposed over other characters

We're having a problem in Word 2003 where an entire
paragraph of text occupies a single character space, both
on the screen and when printed.

This doesn't occur consistently. It has happened four or
five times on a single user's computer. The effect of
saving the document and closing Word varies - sometimes
the re-opened document will appear normal; sometimes the
re-opened document retains the problem.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

3.match text and numbered list formatting from one document to anoth

I have two documents with very different formatting for the numbered list,
text, tabs, page layout, etc. and would like to convert one to the other.
Any ideas on how to do this quickly and easily? Everything I have tried is
very tedious!

Thanks so much for your help!

4.How do I superimpose characters in Word?

I need to superimpose two characters, such as a superscript o over a dot . I
have found two ways of doing it, either by using Eq field, or by condensing
the space between the characters, in this case by 5. The problem is that my
text is going to be exported to another program (professional book
publisher), and that program does not read the field codes. Are there any
other ways of doing this that are more easily convertible with other
non-Office programs? Thanks.

5.Characters have become invisible in Word documents

Hi all

I strongly suspect that this might be a compatability issue between Word
2003 and 2007 however downloading the compatibility software ddidnt resolve
the problem.

I have quite a few word documents for which the writing sees to have
disappeared; ie the document is now empty. The strange thing is that when i
do a word count is tells me how many words and characteres there are which
basically matches the quantity of info I have typed in.

How can I resolve this and get back my work ?
Cheers
