After several months of working flawlessly, our Word 2002 )operating with XP suddenly sits 10-12 seconds waiting to close. (It opens fairly quickly, though.) Doesn't seem to matter which programs, if any, are simultaneously running. I have disabled Norton Office Plug-in and installed all available updates, also have run Detect & Repair; the Word 2002 version is now listed as: "Microsoft Word 2002 (10.5815.4219) SP-2" I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

This is an annoyance that I have lived with for a couple of years, but I feel confident the expertise and experience of the users on this board will provide an answer. In Word 2000 on one machine and 97? on another, when ever I need to block more text than shows on the screen the blocked text jumps very rapidly to the top or the bottom of the document. No amount of slow edging toward the top or bottom frame can make it block slower. Is there a way to make text blocking block line by line instead of full pages or documents? Hell all! I have an installation of office 2k on a 2kpro computer that refuses to run any of the products. The error reports WINWORD.exe caused an error....This is consistant across the office products. The user claims he applied an update to windows that had this functionality. I have tried removing the product reinstalling. checking if other "things" are running on the workstation. Still have the same problem. Suddenly I am getting the following message when attempting to open Word: "Winword has caused an error in WINWORD.EXE. Winword will now close". Is there a way to set up a document so that it carries its own printer information with it no matter what workstation its que'd from? So that every time you open that document the print que is for the same printer and printer properties. Thanks, G

I have many documents that were created in previous version of Word 2002 in the network, and they were attached to a template that has been moved or no longer exists in the previous server. 3.Word 2002 takes LONG time to open.
I have Word 2002 that came on a disk with MS Works. It was working fine. Recently, when trying to open Word, it takes a long time for it to open, usually will show the white and blue "word" box on the screen until it opens, which can range from 10-30 minutes. I have tried downloads/updates, tried uninstalling and then re-installing, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you, Elaine
4.Converting to tagged PDF takes too long - Word 2002
I am using Word 2002 - when I convert my document to a tagged PDF using Acrobat 5.0, it takes more than 40 minutes to convert. My document is about 120 pages long with 30 -40 graphics. I use .png format for the graphics - even when I use .bmp or tif it is the same.. When I convert, I get the "Low memory .. you cannot undo this once you .." error message several times at the same time. I have more that 1 Gig memory and close all the applications. Word also hangs and crashes sometimes when I create the tagged PDF. Any idea why it takes so long and hangs so often? thank you, Chitra
5.word 2002 font screen takes a long time to appear
In an earlier post I reported that Word 2002 was not responding when I did Format/Font or Modified a Style. To my amazement, the Font screen comes up but after what I'd consider an very long time (30 seconds plus). I was prematurely closing the font screen assuming it stopped responding. What would Word be looking for that initial request that is making take so long? However, once it comes up it appears very quickly from that point on for that session of Word. When I reopen Word that first font screen takes a long time. I just upgraded to 2002 from Word 97 on my XP laptop. Is this normal behavior for Word 2002 and XP? One other question. On my Windows 98 machine all the font icons were TT, with the XP machine some fonts show TT but most have an O icon but still has the .ttf file extension. COuld someone tell me what the O stands for? TIA
