When I load Word 2003, I get a Microsoft Visual Basic message that says there is a compile error in a hidden module - AutoExec. The Word help file suggests I unprotect the current document to look for modules. But there is no open document. How do I identify what is calling this module? -- Leighton
  • 2. Why does my Word lock up after the last windows update?
After the last automatic update (yesterday morning), Word locks up when I try to open a document through clicking on a folder in "My Documents". I can open one by going to explorer and double clicking on one, but can not open one regularly through word. I get the message "not responding", and I end now. I have sent the error report two times, but I need to use this product right now. Any Ideas?

Image don't show complete while scrolling in MS Word 2003. If I change the
view to "Reading Layout", the images show complete. Is there any error
somewhere. I have a new PC with 512 MB DDR RAM.

A few things to try:
   1. In Word, if you're working in Normal view, switch to Print
Layout view (View | Print Layout), because objects that are
formatted as "float over text" (Word 97) or as something other
than "inline with text" (Word 2002 and 2003) are not visible in
Normal view.
   2. In Word, click on Tools | Options | View tab | check the
"Drawings" box and uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print
tab | check the "Drawing objects" box | OK.
   3. If neither of the prevous suggestions fixes the problem,
then try reducing the hardware acceleration setting in Start |
Control Panel | Display | Advanced | Troubleshooting. If this
fixes the problem, you might want to check the website of the
manufacturer of your video card/graphics adapter to see if there
is an updated driver available.

Make sure that you have the latest graphics driver installed. Visit the
graphics card manufacturer's site - not the PC maker.

1.Images Don't Show in Word 2003

I've just upgraded to Word 2003. None of my images are showing up unless I print or go to preview. How can I fix this?

Thanks much

2.images don't show up in microsoft office 2003?

Has anyone figured out a way to have images show up in Word 2003 since the
July 2004 postings?? In my document I don't have "Picture Placeholders"
checked but I still don't have the images showing up consistently. When I
have an image viewable scrolling up or down past the image will cause that
portion of the image to vanish. Resizing the document is the only way for the
image to reappear.

3.Images don't show up in Word 2004

I am running the same version of word 2004 on two macs running the same operating system (10.4.11), and on one images show up just fine, and on the other, images insert without a hitch, but don't show up in any "view" other than print preview. They print fine, but I also cannot select an image, whether it be clip art or an image from disk, in order to resize, reposition, etc.

Any ideas? It's really frustrating!

4.linked images don't show in word 2000

I have tried everything I can think of, but when I create a document in
Word2000 and insert a picture as a link, it shows fine, until I save
then reload the document.

If I use alt F9 it shows as:
{INCLUDEPICTURE "c:\\test\\header.jpg" \* MERGEFORMAT \d}

The problem is I am trying to keep the file size down since the file
will be saved in RTF format later for use as a template in a web
application, and as an RTF file with images in grows in size
considerably this is the only way I can think of.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards Peter

5.Word 97 - images don't show

I have a Word document where I've inserted a number of gif images, but when I
sent to others, they cannot see the images at all. They get some strange
icon (triangular in shape) ... instead of the dreaded red x, which is what
they were getting before I reinserted the images.

Surely there must be a work around for this. I know that 97 is problematic
in this area, but it's what I'm stuck with until we upgrade to 2003, early
next year.

Thanks for any help.
Diana
