  • 2. Spell check does not allow ignore or changes only undo edit button
Hi, the buttons ignore or change are not available with Word 2007 Student Edition, they used to work fine? Any help with this? I only have a button available that says "Undo Edit" Thanks
  • 3. word 2007- not saving files- does not bring up save box
Can't save any doc/docx when you try to save either save /saveas or ctrl s nothing happens and word crashes. Think it may have something to do with auto recovery of files? I have tried to change the normal.doc also but nothing seems to work. any thoughts greatly appreciated? Would it be simplest to reinstall? Thanks
  • 4. I can no longer add words to my dictionary, can this be fixed?
I have noticed that a lot of features are no longer available to me on word, most of which I have been able to fix, but I cannot save any changes to the dictionary. I need to add a spelling and I cannot use the Add to Dictionary feature. Is there a specific file/folder that I should be looking for?

Word 2002 closes with no warning

Hi,
I am running WinXP Pro and Office XP. Problem is when MS
word is open and I am working with other programs I will
minimize word documents then when I attempt to maximize
the docs all of a sudden the program is no longer open. I
have tried to figure out if it is happening when Outlook
is open (it usually is). MS word is my email editor. Has
anyone heard of this? Better yet can anyone help?

Hi, Rob. Try removing handwriting recognition in Start | Control Panel | Regional and Languge Settings | Language tab | Details | <select Handwriting Recognition> | Remove. If this fixes the problem, and if you need to use handwriting recognition, then you can add it back and it should work okay after you re-add it.

Word 2002 closes with no warning

Hi,
I am having exactly the same trouble. I use windows Xp and
office 2003. If (and ONLY if) I have multiple documents
open AND if (and ONLY if) I minimise documents and then
try to maximise the documents, word crashes instantly. Its
not related to any other program (I stopped using outlook)
and can occur when only blank word documents are open. I
have a new computer and dell support has no idea what is
wrong. I have loaded all the updates, uninstalled office
2003 professional and re-installed it, tried to repair
windows Xp all to no avail. Does anybody have a solution.
My next move is to format the hard drive and start again!

THANK YOU! That seems to have done the trick. So, where
did you learn about that? Is it posted in the KB? I could
not find anything. What a wierd.... "bug". Thanks again.

Rob

Hi, Rob. Glad you got things working again. No, this solution is not
anywhere in the KB. AFAIK this solution was discovered by Word MVP Beth
Melton.

1.MS Word 2002 - closes without warning, no error msg

Hi, I am serious need of help.

Word keeps closing without any error message or warning.
This happens when I have multiple documents open and
switch between windows.
After a couple of switches between windows, the whole
application just closes.
When I open Word up again - all the documents need to be
recovered.

Anyone have any idea what's going on with it?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

2. using ENSUREDMAIL encryption software.
3. composed MSWORD encrypted test document sent it and afterwards received
MSWORD warning "...macos either expired or revoked signature, and since you
are running HIGH security, these macros will be disabled".
4. I was informed next day, my test msg was 'not encrypted' and was 'open'

3.Security Warning, Word 2002

XP Home: Word 2002:

Security Warning
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart Tag\FDATE.DLL
contains macros by
Microsoft Corporation

I changed ( in the Word) Tools Options Security level to Medium (or Low)
then OK, window close. Open the macro Security window again and it is
magically back to High! Why please?

Next, which may be better overall solution is to somehow disable Word to
look in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\FDATE.DLL at start up. This will be best solution leaving security level
to High, but how to do that please?

Will renaming C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\FDATE.DLL to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\OLDFDATE.DLL help? I did not test that before answer from MVP.

Thanks, Dusko
