Fill Effects in Word 2003 blown up
by SG90emVucGxvdHo » Mon, 12 Oct 2009 02:35:01 GMT
I created a letterhead picture on a letter size (8.5x11) JPG file. Now I want
to use this JPG file as background in Word. When I use
Format->Background->Fill Effects and insert my picture, the background
picture is blown up to much larger than letter size. How is that possible?
I went and resized the picture in Photoshop to half its size (4.25x5.5) and
STILL the background is too large! How can I prevent Word from blowing up my
background picture?? I also tried using GIF format with similar results.
When I use a letter format, how come a letter format picture doesn't fit?
There are also no options in the Fill Effects dialog. I can only enter the
name of the picture file and that's it.
It would be great if you could help me!!!

Insert the picture in the header view and set its layout property option to
'behind text'.

THANKS! This helps a LOT! The picture still doesn't extend to its actual
size but automaticalyy adjusts to the margins of the page layout. However, it
is possible to stretch the picture again pretty close to the printable aera,
so this is really a great solution!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

If your default insert/paste format is In Line With Text then a graphic
inserted anywhere (including in the header) will initially conform to the
document margins. Once you change the wrapping to Behind Text (which you
could set as your default), you can use Format Picture | Size to change the
size to 8.5" x 11".
I have an article about anchoring objects to the header at
http://www.**--****.com/ , and the only reason I
didn't suggest this method was that, since you were trying to use the
graphic as a background, I figured you wanted it to be nonprinting. If you
anchor it to the header, it will print unless you disable printing of ALL
drawing objects.

1.Word 2003 background (fill effect) prints incorrectly-not WYSIWYG
When a Word background "fill effect" is set via menu
format > background> fill effects > gradient >preset >fire ( from center).
It displays as 1- 2 large rectangles on the page. This is the same when
viewed from print preview.
Howvever when printing this background, it prints as large amount small
rectanges approx ( across 6 and 11 down ) . It has effectivly re-sized the
output to the printer.
This does not seem to be a printer problem as I have tested this with
different prints.
Any advice on how to fix this would be very helpful.
2.Background & Fill Effects in word 2003
I have a user who is trying to add some background, fill effects. When you
select this option the "Gradient" & "Texture" tabs do not display or show any
options. The boxes are all grayed out. Can not seem to have them redisplay
the gradient's and textures so the user can choose their options.
Have tried detect & repair and looked under accessibilty option as well.
Any help would be great.
3.Textbox with Fill effect, Word 2003
Hi! I need to build a textbox/box with Fill effect in such a way that the top
will start with white and gradually changes to gray. At the bottom of this
textbox I will display a label with transparent background or some text in
case if a textbox. The box must be able to resize based on the size of the
section it's in.
I am wandering if creation of such textbox or box is possible with the fill
effect I described? I am going nowhere trying to figure out how to do it.
What are my options? Is it possible at all, if so, how? Can it be done in
VB-6/C# and displayed in Word ?
Many Thanks in Advance,
4.Pop-Ups & Ad-Watch effect this site
I have just overcome the following problems accessing the drop down menu for
new questions and comments.
Ad-Watch would not allow the drop down menu & blocked the New Comment page
also. I had to turn it off to get this site to work properly. Then I had to
allow pop-ups for this site also.

5.Limit number of Fill-In pop-ups
Hi, any assistance you could give would be appreciated.
I have a document with embedded sub-documents, and due to this the
mail-merge will be run multiple times on this document (no way to avoid
this). I have just discovered the neat Fill-In function, however the
required questions could be re-requested in the same (one-off) document
multiple times.
This document will be used to merge information from a database for one
particular client on an as needs basis, so is there a way to restrict the
Fill-In pop-ups so that they are asked only once (or X times, if that is
possible).
Thanks in advance.
