Hello, I created and index (14 pages long) I know there are few mistakes in the index entry, however, the spell check appears to skip the index completely. I prefer not to go back to original document and make corrections but I do want to fix the index. How can be done (Spell Check) by working with the index ONLY?
  • 2. Word 97 Changing Filenames When Saving
Greetings! New member here... Somebody posted this in the computing.net Office Software forum, whch doesn't get see nearly the traffic that this group does. I help out with Excel in that forum, but don't do much with Word. I don't know if its legit, but it made me so curious I had to post it here. I'll post the answer back there, giving credit where credit is due. Here goes nothing... Hello, - a client has a network of 6 identical IBM ThinkCentre PCs with Windows XP Pro and MS Office 97 SBE - On only one of the machines the following is happening: - they want to save a word file as e.g. "test12345.doc" and try to do so. - when checking the folder the file has been saved as "t.doc" - for "damnit789b.doc" you'll get "d.doc" - for "holycp.doc" you'll get "h.doc" you get the picture. This has happened from one day to the other without anything being installed, configured, messed with... Any ideas most welcome, this is a bit of a nightmare..

To get information from others in my office, I need to create a worksheet that is fixed but allows people to open it, add information to it and then send it back to me. When I get the forms back, I want to consolidate all the information into one form. What is the best way to accomplish this?

I am creating a form in Word 2003. How do I make the text in a table wrap around the box rather than extend the box horizonally in one line? There appears to be no way to fix this in the properties of the "ab" key.

I have an open-type font that is not displaying in the available list of fonts, in Word, or any of my Office applications. It is installed, and so indicating in the fonts folder. What else must be done? The computer has recently been reconfigured after a crash. All updates are downloaded and installed for all software.

How can I get Word 2003 font colors in Word 2007

In our office we've recently upgraded to Office 2007 and one of the biggest
peeves I and others have is that we liked the 2003 font and highlight colors
but are forced to use the new color scheme of 2007. We can define individual
colors, but they don't persist very long in the "recently used" section. Is
there a way to revert to the 2003 font and highlight color theme while using
2007?

I believe the highlight colours remain the same in Word 2007. For font
attributes, the simplest plan is to create character styles with the
colouring you require and apply to the text as needed.

It may be that by "highlight" Dara means shading?

2.Trouble getting certain Word 2003 Docs to Print Properly on Duplex Color Printer

I'm not sure if this is where I should post this message. I'm not sure if
this newsgroup is strictly for problems printing faxes or if it's for
general printing problems as well. If this post represents a faux pas of
some sort, please forgive me.

The printer described below has always printed regular and duplex color
documents with no problem.

However, either Word 2003 or Windows XP Pro SP2 ignores the print settings
that I
select when printing certain documents no matter how I set the print
settings. One method that Suzann Barnhill suggested was to disable
background printing ands temporarily change the print dialogue to send
documents directly to the printer.

However, instead of printing two-sided in keeping with the way the HP G85
AIO Color
Printer works, which is automatic two-sided printing of each page as they
print, something mistakenly assumes that the printer's only two-sided method
is manual. So, it prints all of the pages on one side, then a dialogue pops
up telling me to turn the pages over and reinsert them into the hopper to
print side 2. That's not what I need. It's certainly not what I want.

Consequently, I'd very much appreciate being advised as to how I can get
these documents to print exactly in keeping with the print selections that
I've made.

3.Old Word 2002 font colors in Word 2007

"I know Engineers! They love to change things."
Dr. Leonard McCoy - Star Trek, The Motion Picture

Our company is now forcing us to upgrade to Vista. All those problems aside,
it also means we now have to use Word 2007. I am getting the hang of it, but
so much has changed. I'm all in favor of "New Features", but I need to get
work done before I can pick up all the new stuff.

One problem that I have not yet been able to figure out is Font Colors. Many
of our documents include Special Font colors to indicate commands to be
typed. In Word 2007 all the preselected colors are different, so if I add a
new line of colored text, I cant get the exact color to match the rest of the
colored text. In the original document, I did not use a special custom color,
just one of the simple basic colors offered by Word 2002 like "Blue". In Word
2007 there are many more "Blue" options, but none of them match the orriginal
basic Blue from Word 2002.

The last thing I want to do is go through the entire document and change all
the special text to the "New-Blue".

Any Suggestions?

5.How to add & save a new font color in Word 2007

The font colors puzzle me. There is a color I miss from the previous Office
version.
Apparently in Word 2007 I am stuck with the colors. If I create a new
color its lost when I shut down or reboot my PC.
That puzzles me - why would M/S do that?

Any way, the only solution I have found is to create a word document with
the color font of my choice. Save it and use as when needed in the future.

There must be a better way - yes?
