  • 1. My track changes is showing the wrong names
I am an editor at a publishing company. When we work on electronic manuscripts, there can be up to four people looking at the same document, so we use track changes. However, we've recently discovered that when a document comes back to us after having been edited by the other people, the wrong names are showing up. For example, let's say Hope is working on a file with Amy, and then sends it to Beth. John another editor, is working on an entirely different file. He sends his to Amy, but when it comes back to him, Hope's name mysteriously shows up on some of the edits, and Hope had nothing to do with this file. Can anyone shed some light on why this might be happening? I can be reached at lburstin(remove this)@wiley.com. Thank you.

I am trying to assign the less-than-or-equal-to symbol to the phrase "=<" in the AutoCorrect tab of the AutoCorrect Window. When I do this, the output is indeed the less-than-or-equal-to symbol, but it does so in the font SimSun. How do I do this so that it automatically replaces it in the normal text font (i.e. Times New Roman)?
  • 5. online forms: document or template which is best?
I had an online form (.doc) that was password protected and read-only. A person filled out the form and the information they had in there stuck. Everyone that clicked on that form saw the information. Now I made it a template (.dot) and password protected it and made it read only. It cannot be saved by the user. Why could the .doc be changed when I took the steps (I thought) to protect it?

Track Changes Line not showing

Postby a2lwcGVycw » Fri, 07 Mar 2008 19:28:00 GMT

Hi,

The track changes line does not appear however it does appear to work when I
delete text.

My track changes settings are as follows:

Insertions: Underline
Deletions: Strikethrough
Formatting: (none)
Changes Lines: Right Border

The colour is set to red- however no line appears when I insert text (it
does when I delete).

Anyone got any ideas...?

Cheers,

What version of Word is this? If Word 2002 or above, do you have balloons
enabled, and what view are you in? (Print Layout vs. Normal, Final Showing
Markup vs. Original Showing Markup)

1.track changes: showing WHAT has been changed, but not WHO changed

I have a document with track changes of several different persons. We want to
send it to some people who should see the actual changes but not by WHOM they
were made.
I called our helpdesk and they said it can't be done (we have version 2003)?
Someone else mentioned 'Deltaview'?
Any idea?

2.Track changes so that view does not show tracking but print does

We use Office 2000 soon to upgrade to 03. I am creating Word
Agreement/contract templates. There are fields with unlimited characters
that must be filed in. In each field I have included an instruction (what
info belongs in field). When the user completes Agreement, it must be
printed with changes redlined for ease of review for attorney (so that
changes/additions to original template can easily be seen) so tracking is
turned on. Now when a field is clicked on to fill in information because of
tracking, the field with instruction is redlined and text filled in is in red
following the actual field. Is there anyway to make the fields work normal
(not redline) even with tracking turned on? It would be more user friendly if
the text typed in the field came out red but the field instructions deleted
like they normally do with tracking off. If not, can the user not see the
tracking but when they print, it shows.

3.Show track changes but not show editing info

In Word 2000, I want to show my track changes to other
users, but do not want them to see the editing info when
the hover over the change with their mouse. (i.e. author,
when changed and how). I tried to change my options here
so that none were by author but the user info still shows
up. Any way to leave track changes on to show editing with
showing editing info?
