You may be able to crop the graphic, edit the wrap points, or make the white
a transparent color, depending on the type of graphic and the wrapping
style.

As Suzanne points out, the features available in Word "may" help you out, 
but in order to be certain the work must be done in a graphics program - not 
a word processor.

The image needs what is called an image clipping path, which delineates the 
pixel content of the image & tells the text-based program to "ignore" 
anything outside the path... or more accurately "hides" the peripheral white 
pixels from it.
