  • 2. adjust column width by dragging
Sometimes I place the cursor over the column line in a table, the cursor changes to a pair of vertical parallel lines, I click in order to change the width of the column by dragging it, and it doesn't move! Is it because the autoformat is running out of control and I don't know how to over-ride it? or what? I go to Table / table properties /table options and turn off automatically resize but that doesn't help. Sometimes Microsoft tries so hard to help users that Microsoft makes users unproductive!
  • 3. A master document tip!
Hi everybody, I've gotten so much good help from here, and first of all thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past. Now it's my turn--I found out something in Word 2003 that makes it very easy to create master documents that automatically update, since the utility in Word that is supposed to do this doesn't seem to work that well. What you can do is go to the insert menu and click on "File." Once you select the file, click on the little arrow next to "Insert" and select "Insert as link." That inserts an AutoText field that automatically updates whenever you press F9. So, you can maintain separate documents that will automatically update in one big file. This is probably here somewhere, but I thought it was too cool not to mention, and it took me a long time to figure it out, so maybe I can help someone save some time. Thanks for listening! Jezzica85

Does your printer duplex? If so, it may be set to print the back side of
landscape pages in the wrong orientation.

2.Booklet printing with 2 pages/sheet done by printer

In our company, I'm using Word 2000 at various locations with WinXP, Win2K,
and Win98SE.

I have an HP2200d which does automatic duplexing. It can also print 2,4,...
pages on one side of a sheet of paper. [BTW, the ZOOM setting in the Print
panel doesn't work for this, I have to use the Printer Options setting. Is
this "normal"?]

When I do 2-sided, 2-up printing, the pages come out
    Front 1 2 5 6 9 10
    Back 3 4 7 8 11 12
and if the paper is cut in half, I'll get 1 backed by 3, 2 by 4, ...

What I want is 1 backed by 2, 2 by 4, ...

Is there any way to do this natively in Word without a macro?

Can I do it with a macro?

Do I need some 3rd party software?

Thanks

3.One side of sheet of paper in printed booklet is upside down

Help! I think I followed all the directions for printing a folded booklet.
However, every time I print it, one side of one sheet of paper is upside

appear in order in the booklet. Does anybody know what I did wrong?
