  • 1. WHAT TYPE OF DOCUMENT TO USE
I am redoing a policy manual; however, this manual will be huge and will need to be available via tablets for quick access by firefighters. So they will need to be able to review the table of contents quickly and go straight to the page they need. My new boss says (though he doesn't know anything about it) that there is a way in MSWord to develop something similar to the worksheets in Excel. I'm wondering if anyone knows what he is talking about. I've got a master document and subdocuments started but I don't like they way it is portrayed in the document with the links. It seems hard to read. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  • 2. Strip coding from populated fields
Hello! I'm working on an automated document utilizing a template, DocProperty fields and autotext to populate various portions of the document. After the document is initially created, it is then passed on to others to edit. Does anyone know a way to strip the coding from these populated portions so that the resulting text from these auto entries, etc. behave as normal keyboarded text? Other operators are not happy with the way AutoText entries behave if they need to edit them (I included the ending paragraph mark). Merging with a secondary document freaked them out so I went with writing the variable fields as custom DocProperty fields (I love it). However, if they ever hit the toggle code and saw the fields rather than the result, well, it would just be a bad day. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I have deployed Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Office 2007 Enterprise Trial on my system but this Start Workflow option is not displayed. Kindly help out. I need to prove this to my Client that this menu will show automatically once they deploy the two technology. Or do i have to deploy full version of Office 2007 Enterprise Edition instead of trial version?

Insert a Web Component?

Postby R0hhd2tpbnM » Sat, 15 Jul 2006 04:42:02 GMT

I have a user who wants to insert a Web Component in his Word document, but
the option is greyed out. I assume this is because the document he is working
with can't handle a web component, but I'm trying to figure out what
configuration is necessary to be able to insert one. I read an article saying
your document should be saved as an html file and it should be stored on
either a Front Page server or a SharePoint Services server, but when I tried
to do this on a SharePoint site, the option is still greyed out for me. Can
anyone shed some light on this?

I'm using Office 2003 SP2.

Componets are created within Front Page. AFAIK Word has no option for
using FP componets.
The page "must" then be "publsihed" to a website where the server has
Front Page Extensions installed and "functioning".

MS Componets in web pages are really a bad idea.
Many of the componets do not function when the visitor uses a non-MS
browser.

I haven't a clue what a SharePoint site is nor am I inlcined to
learn ;-)

Thanks for the feedback. I had a feeling that it was a feature I wouldn't
suggest, but I wanted to figure out what it was first :)

Hi. I was creating a new web page in word 2003. I noticed 2 errors.
1. Under insert, my "web component" is grayed out and I don't know how to
activitate it.

2. Using the webtools toolbar, I clicked on "scrolling text" and I get the
following error message: "This object was created in MARQUEE. This
application is not available to open the object. Make sure the application
is properly installed and that it has not been deleted, moved or renamed."

I do not have FrontPage 2003 installed. Hopefully someone can help me out.
