  • 1. Need Suggestions on How to Resolve an RTF Issue with Word 2003
I contacted Microsoft about the following issue, but was told they do not have a Support Team ready for Word 2003. They advised me to post to the newsgroups, which I did as follows: I just upgraded from Office XP to Office 2003 and noticed that I cannot save new RTF files to our network drive as well as I cannot open existing RTF files from our network drive. The DOC files open and save fine, and the RTF files work correctly if on my local C drive. Our network is Novell 3.12. The message from Word is: Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges However, there has been no suggestions on the issue and Microsoft still tells me they cannot offer support. Any suggestions on how I could attempt a resolution? Thanks, Ben
  • 2. Reviewing tracked changes
In older versions of Word (I am talking pre-2000, like Word 6.0 or something like that), when one reviewed a change and clicked on the accept or reject button, the cursor would move on automatically to the next tracked change. I can't seem to do this anymore with Office 2000 (Windows 2000 OS). I have to physically click on the reviewing pane to ask for Word to look for next tracked change for me to accept or reject. Could anyone please suggest how I can get Word 2000 to automatically move to the next change? Thanks!
  • 3. Cannot get rid of header???
For some reason, every time I open a new document in Word, there is always a person's name and address at the top and the font is at like 26...I have tried and tried to get rid of it, but it never goes away?? Any ideas?
  • 4. Adding a check mark
I can't find the symbol for a checkmark anyplace. I am sure there is a way to add one to a regular document but I can't track it down. Thanks.

Do you mean one 11x17 sheet that is divided into 11x8.5 on each side? Two
11x17 sheets that are front and back each? Four separated 11x17 sheets? Or
one side of a 11x17 sheet divided into four 5.5x8.5 quadrants?

For starters, you would choose File - Page Setup - Paper tab, and set the
paper size. How you proceed from there, however, depends on exactly what you
want (and on what version of Word you're using, as well).

Gwen:

Create your four 8 1/2 x 11 pages. Take them to your nearest Staples/
Kinkos/other copy store. Get one 11 x 17 sheet from them and position
the 8 1/2 x 11 pages on the 11 x 17 so it looks the way you want it to
when you fold and unfold it. (I would use repositionable double-stick
tape or glue stick on the back of your 8 1/2 x 11 pages, rather than
regular tape on the front - it can show.) When you have it how you
want, let them print you a master. Then you can have them print as
many as you desire printed from that master.

5.Am I crazy or is outline numbering buggy?

Today I was trying to create a table of contents, so the online reference
told me to use the format style headers to format the document sections- ie
1.0, 2.0, 3.0 along with 1.1, 1.2, etc.

When applying these headers in the document, sometimes a section like 5.2
became 6.2, before section 6.0.

The whole MS autonumbering thing seems to be soo buggy. I know the tab and
ctrl shift tab indent/outdent thing, but I have not run across a single
person at work who is able to get this autonumbring thing done without a
whole lot of trial and error and pain and suffering.

How do I either to get it to work or to shut off? it seems to come back on
like Freddy on Friday the 13th. I think I've shut if off and then it starts
autonumbering wherever it feels so inclined.

Signed
Frustrated.

Thanks
